When I moved to Newburgh, NY in 1989 I didn't know anyone but that didn't last very long. Mopar owners have no trouble finding one another at some of the local car cruises & shows & within the first year I met a great bunch of people that I am still friends with. Of course we don't see each other as often, we all have families & other obligations, but most of us do manage to stay in touch.   :2thumbs:

One of the first Mopar guys I met was someone named Bill. He had a pretty nice 1969 Charger at the time but has since sold it. He threw a party once in 1992 that turned into a small car show. People driving by sometimes stopped to take a look at the cars. Looking at these pics I scanned reminds me that winter is too damn looooong.

The first pic is all our vehicles lined up on his front lawn.

The 1979 Little Red Express on the pavement is Bill's truck.

The paintless 1975 Duster is my wife's car, it had about 245,000 miles on the slant six. I don't think the hood ornament was stock.   :shruggy:

This 1979 Little Red belongs to Theo. He's the original owner who bought it new the day he saw it being taken off the transport at the local Dodge dealer. I haven't seen him lately, but the truck had about 22,000 miles when I last saw it about 2 years ago. He added the ram hood ornament when it was new because he liked it.

My 1971 Scamp when it still had it's original paint.

Craig's Superbird that he's owned since 1973. It's an original 440-6 Pack, 4 speed, bench seat car that still has it's original drive train. I haven't seen the car in about 10 years now & I know it had needed some rear frame rail work along with some rust repair, but I don't know if anything was started on it yet. He was busy spending money on his other one, the white 440-4 bbl, 4speed car that came out nice.

Mike's 1974 Cuda when it had the tunnel ram on top of the 440. It's been redone since this pic & looks even better & now has a 500 CI motor that runs in the mid 10's.  :o

Paul's 1969 Dart GTS that originally had a 340, but here it has a 440-4bbl with a 4 speed pistol grip & fender well headers. He always groaned about the tires rubbing the headers & that the lack of power steering made it a pain to park. I didn't really feel that sorry for him.

This is the interior of Paul's Dart, it's gorgeous. Paul Picked up another 1969 Dart GTS that's an original 440 car, but he moved away so I don't know what he's up to or if he still has either car, we lost touch.  :shruggy:

By the way, a small piece of trivia I just remembered about his car. Paul told me that the chrome band on the head rests is not a head rest replacement band. (They weren't made when he re-did the seats) The chrome band is from a 1980's Chrysler or Dodge bumper, maybe a Newport or Diplomat. If I recall, he said he had to cut it's width but was so close you can't tell it's not the right part.   :Twocents:

Last car is Mark's 1972 340 Duster, with an automatic. He said he bought one new that was a 4 speed but sold it & eventually wanted another one. He kept it for a very long time but had sold it a few years ago to buy an old mid 60's GM that I forget the model.  ::)

Okay, this is not from the same party / mini car show, it was at my parents house in the mid 1980's. It's my wife Mary when we first started dating, & the 1973 Chrysler New Yorker I had back then. I paid $200 for the car that had 72,000 miles on it with a 440-4. I kept the drive train & hope to one day get it into my '68 Charger.

Great pictures from a time past that holds many great memories for you. It's funny that most of the MOPARS there were not very old yet, you recognized that they were special already.  Enjoyed the pictures.

I'm glad you guys like seeing the older pics, I know I do.

Sometimes I see someone else's photos from way back & it reminds me of a car I had, or a friend's car that I had forgotten about. There were other cool cars running around town or maybe in a town nearby, but the digital age didn't exist back then so we just never took as many photos as we wanted. Film & developing got expensive especially if the settings on the camera weren't right or the flash bulbs didn't work. If I had a digital camera back then I'd probably have over 100,000 pics by now.

A Kodak Instamatic in the pics below, is what was in my family until I got one of those Poloroid instant cameras in the mid 70's. It wasn't until I met my wife, who had a nicer, fully manual Minolta 35mm with a few lenses & filters, that I started to take some nicer pics at car shows. I never wanted to get into all that because of the work & expense so I was happy getting a pocket 35mm & later on a pocket digital camera.

Great pictures, thanks for posting.

Newburgh. . . I just spent a few days in Newburgh/Beacon/Fish Kill area. I like that area of NY state. Close enough to the city, but far enough away from the crazies. Back on topic.
