Yee Haw!!! :boogie:

Traded out my 3.55s for some 4.10s (don't bother asking, they've already found a new home). With the 0.64 OD, I could afford to run a some more gear, so I figured, what the heck. Like I needed more torque out of the hole.  :icon_smile_big: It is a little easier to launch now.  I'm not slipping the clutch for 60 ft.

Unfortunately, I've got some crappy fuel in the tank. Darn thing started pinging as soon as it got warm. Further flogging will have to wait until after my next fill up. I can't wait to get this thing on the track.

0.64 overdrive?  What kind of trans do you have?

Sounds like a cool setup.

Keisler/Tremec TKO600

75 mph -> 2500 rpm

Still need to install the new speedo gear. I had the speedometer wound well into the triple digits on a couple of blasts.

that is a beautiful car. i would have kept my 4.10's in mine had it not been for buzzing at 3500 rpm at 70.. that got old. i was too cheap to buy an overdrive

The 4:10's came out of this car. Too much gear for it with a 727 but getting back to the 3:55 will be nice. It's a pretty stock engine. I am not as ambitious as Jim so it will be a little while before I get them in. It's cold here in MI still also.

I wish they had OD trannys when the cars were new. I loved the 4.10 setup but hated it on the highway for any more than an hour or two. The 3.91s in the 8 3/4 weren't much better. Great for in town squirreling, but pain central on the highway.
You pleased with your Tremec installaton? The 3.23 and 3.55 gears I have in my cars are not what I really want. But I hate noise and sustained highway RPM with 3.91s.

Cool, can't wait to hear about your launch with clean fuel!
My car will have pretty much the same set-up as yours when I'm done : 4.10's, Keisler .64 and stroked 400 (470).
I was worried that 4.10's would be too much gear with first's ratio and all ;)

You have to figure in your rear tire height to know what will be the final ratio.    Jim's tires are like 28" and I run 26.sumthing" 295/50/15 with 3.73's.    I get  about 80 mph at 2500 rpm on the highway.   That same 2500 is only around 50 or 55 in 4th gear when I'm cruising on a regular surface road.

Problem with the 3.55s, 28" tires and 0.64 overdrive is that I wasn't even turning 2000 rpm at 70 mph. Not a real happy spot for my motor and manual transmission. Wouldn't have been bad with an automatic and some stall, but with the stick, punching it resulted in a bog.

The 4.10s add 300-400 rpm on the highway and the motor is starting to get into the power band. Down shifting to 4th will drop me right in the meat of the torque curve.

Passing won't be a problem (like it really ever was ::) ). I'm betting my mpg will improve too.

Even with the 3.55s, matting the go pedal in 1st resulted in immediate loss of traction and zinging the motor to the rev limiter. Now I can do that in 2nd too. :icon_smile_big:

od is tempting here also. ive got kinda short 14s on my duster, so the 3.91 was waaayy too much. i droped them las week in favor of a set of 2.94s (open) for daily driving. the posi will go into 4.56s for trips to the race track.
