Cats Question Need an Answer

Ok I have to change my cats on my 5.7 Charger. Online I noticed that the new cats have the upstream o2 sensor that goes directly in the cat and the downstream one after the cat. On my car the upstream o2 sensor is on the exhaust manifold and the downstream o2 is after the cat. Is it still okay to get these new cats, do I have to plug the 3rd o2 sensor hole???

Bello, I would answer if I knew and you will hopefully get a good answer to your question.  I am sure some folks here have new generation chargers and will answer, but a lot of us (including me) only have the 40+ year old ones.  If you don't get a response, I believe there is another forum for the present generation chargers and they should also be helpful.

Only aftermarket, cheap, one size fits all, cats come with the sensor hole. Yes, the GOOD cheaper cats should come with a plug.
Cat. Placement in the exhaust if not put back EXACTLY and are the same basic size, will give a cat. Inefficiency code.....


Btw: bad (clogged) cats will not cause your intermittent stalling problem, but good luck.
