wire location?

Trying to locate where this wire should go
It is from a loom that has 3 wires one violet and two that look the same as the lost one
Looks like it goes down towards the 4 speed or in that location
Any idea please

it;s back up light switch wire...you will need to look in the wire diagram for your car...they changed location in various years

Just checked my diagram , it should go looking at photo in the top left empty connector ,
The only thing my diagram shows violet but no tracer on wire, it's for the back up lamp switch

Is there a black next to that, can't really see in photo but that's what's shown on diagram, second wire for back up lamps,

Is car a console car ? Because it needs an additional wire looped from that second wire , the black one ,
Should be a dark green next to that third plug , that one ones to heater blower motor , the four plug spot is for the ac compressor pump wire, dark blue

I am away at present but will check when home.

No console on car and it's an early car so doesn't have the reverse indicator on dash so as everything else works I was thinking the wire was for that but want it to go somewhere to tidy it up !

  what  harness is that black wire  from ?   ie one of the three  block connectors on the fire wall multiplug ? where do the other wires run that's taped in the same harness if that makes sence ?  headlamp ? main engine harness ?   wiper motor / ac etc ?

i'm just dabbling in the dark here  , cause I don't have a 70  or a four speed , so bare with me if a ask silly questions   , just getting an idea  how the  wires run  & what harness is what etc to a 69

the 3 three harness  ,     fire wall multi plugs   A  - B - C  that plug into the block connector !  which   harness  marked two & three  plug where  both in A  or both B or  one in to A  & B  ,  also wire maked one  what other color wires are in the harness its wrapped in  & how many are there ?

  *** edit *** ignore my additions to the picture with abc  etc makes no reference to the FSM wiring diagram  , was just for my own reference & what harness was what !!    so any one looking at it  , & thinking what the hell is tantop up to !!

Hey tan top this car is a 68.
I am not with the car but when I checked the harness with 3 wires violet and 2 black with white traces run down to the reverse switch. The violet and one of the black with white trace is plugged in but I have one black with white trace spare. It has power when key is turned on

i'll have a look at  a real good wiring diagram  I have for a 68   later its  better than the online ones  ,  does show the four speed wiring  I believe

  68 wiring diagram don't show it  , but 69 does  
68 & 69 are pretty much the same

also see green arrow in pucture below  , is this a new harness or ?? , nothing to do with the black wire with white stripe ,    the blue & green look to be in wrong place !!     have you put a new dash harness in ? although its for ac

I will look tomorrow but I think the brown/red harness would be for the wiper motor as that is how it is on my Challenger.

Brown and red are indeed for the wiper, those are where they should be.  The 2 black with tracer wires and the violet wire are what power the backup light switch on a std trans car.  Looking at the bulkhead connector from the engine bay, the black with tracer wire starts on the bottom connector, bottom right slot.  From there another black with tracer wire runs to the top connector, 2nd slot from the left.  From there the 2nd black with tracer wire runs to the back up switch.  The violet wire originates here and runs to the top bh connector, 1st one from the left, right next to the black * wires.

Which is not in its place?
