wonder where that chromed A pillar comes from?..

All B-Body ragtops have chrome A-Pillar trim, & it wraps around the top as well but it's different from the winged ones.

I believe it is. I seem to remember a thread about it from the old site. I was the only one who liked it, if I remember correctly... A lot of crying about what a shame it is, that an R/T was "destroyed".  I think it's cool, I'd take it in a minute!

The roof line is one of the coolest things about a 2nd gen Charger. The car looses a LOT of appeal when you chop it off.

A Charger ragtop is the reason I have my current Charger. I also have a Coronet ragtop that was going to be the base car to start with. Once I had both cars together & saw how many differences there were in the inner structures & how difficult it would be, I changed my mind. Some people have removed the Charger roof to do it, but others have grafted the Charger sheet metal onto the original ragtop. Either way isn't easy & beyond my skills to try it. I took welding classes & planned to tackle it, but I think if I tried I'd have 2 worthless cars in my possession.

So I decided to build a Daytona with it & no window plug for me unless I feel "talented" enough to try it. :D

:iagree: Every time I see a convertible Charger I think it looks goofy as hell.

Probably just another custom from the early 1980s when the cars were almost worthless.

Agreed. It looks like the work on it is quite old. And in the late 70s and early 80s these cars were albatrosses for the large majority of people. Lucky that there were enough interested parties to preserve the ones we got.

Is that the one that a couple of Chrysler guys made and was trying to make it so when the top was up it would still have the recessed rear window.  I remember it on the old site, thought it was on ebay a few years back too.  I can't remember if that is it or not but looks very similar if it is not.

The Ghoul

I like it. makes the car look longer and meaner!
I would, however, stifen the underbody so the car dosent flex to much in the middle.

Jon Smith

a lot of the people who say they dont like it would be drooling if the factory had built it
looks good with the roof down but like most convertibles it probably looks rubbish with the top up

Charger_Fan

I knew one of these "topless Charger" threads would pop up sometime soon. ;D
Here's some pics I found a while ago. IIRC, the site said they were taken in 1993-ish & that a previous owner hacked the top off, presumably because with that wrinkled quarter, it was considered more of a parts car.
It was a Daddy & Daughter project, I guess...but it didn't say what finally became of it.
The green one is owned by the Daughter & was her first car...my kinda chick! :icon_smile_cool:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Oh & here's a Superchicken that was on eGouge a while back. :icon_smile_big:

Hey CF, she's pretty cute.

Cool idea for the parts car too. Maybe I should have done that with the one I sold last year.  ::)

Regarding Rallye Mike's post, I agree. In this view especially, the car doesn't look half as tough without the top, IMO.

I think so too. Maybe I should post them in the chicks on Chargers thread... :scratchchin:
I agree about the parts car thing...especially if the top's really rusted & rotten. :icon_smile_big:

Thats pretty weird. Are those like burn marks around the top of the quater panels where the convertable top sits? I like the Superbird convertable and the Charger one is cool too (sorta looks like snake's car from the simpsons). But atleast use a regular plain jane 318 Charger if u want to make a 'vert. Using a RT makes me  :bawling: :puke:. It also makes me wanna do this to whoever did that.
