Fuel Sending Unit - Any past issues resolved?

From reading other posts, I see a lot has been posted on this topic, but I cannot figure out whether they have been resolved and am trying to figure out whether there is a fix for me.  I replaced the sending unit over ten years ago and it reads from E to 3/4 and runs out pretty quick once it starts moving.  I think it is related to the discussion in the other threads, but do not know if buying a new sending unit will address these problems.

Can someone help me answer these questions about sending units:

(1) Has the range on all/most replacement sending units been corrected? I see sending units are supposed to have a range from 10 ohms (full), 23 ohms (1/2) to ~73 ohms (empty) on a 5V circuit to work with the factory gauge.  I understand some replacements went 0-90 ohms.  Has this been corrected?

(2) Have any of these replacements addressed the linearity issues? (I would like to keep my original fuel gauge);  I understand that the factory gauge works on the principle of heating (in some way) that causes deflection of the needle depending on current through the gauge.  This makes it nonlinear, so the sending unit needs to be nonlinear to compensate for this.  I also understand that the windings on the new sending units are spaced evenly so they are linear (not good for factory gauges).  So are there any that are now nonlinear and work with factory gauges.

(3) Are there any fixes that can be done external to the sending unit or to the gauge that will work? (I have not seen any) that make a linear sender work with the gauge?

(4)  I also see recommendations for rebuilding old units (welding on new parts)- unfortunately, my old unit was thrown out, so I need a new one.  If I search for an old one, I suppose I need the specific year/model to get the geometry correct.

(5) Are there any recommendations for specific 3/8 inch sending units?  I see sending units from $50 to $150 from places like Herbs, Mancini, and Year one.  What are the differences?  I see comments on floats etc....but is there a recommendation on one that works.

Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....
