Back up lights stay on

Hello all new to forum. I have a question. My back up lights on my 1966 Dodge charger stay on after I shift to drive. What do I need to do? Thanks in advance.

probably replace the reverse light switch under the console at the shift handle

I might have some here....are you sure it's bad? Did you unplug it and did the lights go out?

Do I need to remove the console? Is there a way to just take some screws out and prop it up?

service manual would be your friend here...remove arm rest, remove console top, you should see switch under there bolted to bracket

Cleaned switch with electronic spray and the light went out. It had a lot of build up in there, I see now how it works. Cleaned the channel and now the light works as it should. Thanks
