Daytonas were converted at the place on 10 Mile Rd., East Detroit.

Look up the pics on the DSAC web site.   Or aerowarriors.com

I don't know what, if anything, happened on Outer Drive related to wing cars...   :shruggy:
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

Ghoste

I thought the Plymouths were all converted at the assembly plant?

:Twocents: It was something I thought I seen in old newsletter with 3080 address .And thought the high tech satelitte photo might match the image where the daytonas are on the transporters with houses across the street

No, Daytonas were done at that 10 Mile Rd. location that odcics2 mentioned.

The back lot where the cars were stored.  It's not all that big.

I posted photos of the way it looks today a few years ago but I have no idea what the thread title was.

Yes, you did.   This has been covered here and elsewhere a bunch of times.    Probably the only thing new is to look at Google Street View.   Not much has changed in the neighborhood.   The buildings across the street and the light pole are still there.

I haven't had reason to be over on the east side there for awhile but maybe this weekend would be a good time for a drive to see how things look.  I could stop at the Hooters in Warren for the afternoon, have a few beers, drive by Creative, maybe go look up the old Kar Kraft or Dearborn Tubing sites.  A drive by whats left of the Packard building maybe go to the north side and check out the Tilted Kilt, then of course there's the... ;)

You should do it.  I would also be interested in seeing Kar Kraft and DST.

Front of the Creative building.    The magic of Street View is you don't have to travel to the site to see it.    It is cool to see it in person, even if there isn't that much to see.

There are SO many notable auto sites around Detroit and a surprising number still standing.  The first big Model T assembly plant, where Royal Pontiac was, where the Silver Bullet was kept, Detroit Dragway, Motorcity Dragway, Hodges Dodge (the real site not where Hodges Suburu is today).  The list could make for quite a tour on a Sunday.
