This looks really cool!!!  :icon_smile_big:

The stock auto shifter is pretty boring, but this looks like it will make things look interesting.  I am sure some guys here may have tried this out, would like to hear your impression of setup and quality, thanks.

I have one without the pistol grip (which personally I think looks kind of silly in this application) and I like it okay.  It works as described but do not assume it is just like a Slap Stick.  You get used to it quickly so its easy to operate.

Does this replace the entire shifter mechanism?

When it gives you a choice of shift patterns, in order to use the reverse pattern you have to modify your valve body, right?

What shifter did you use?  I am open to alternatives.

Thanks.

I have one and it works good, like Ghoste said it's easy to get used to.
The only thing that I don't like is it doesn't lock in neutral. You can't let the car idle in neutral and walk away because it could very easily slip into drive.

Ghoste

Yes the reverse manual one is for the modified valve body, I used the one for the regular shift pattern.  It doesn't replace the whole shifter it is just the steel plate that functions as a gate and what they have done is cut deeper notches in certain positions so it wont shift past them without interacting on the detent button.  For example, to get from first to second you push ahead as normal but to get from second to third you need to depress the button and while the button is depressed it wont move into neutral.

Thank you for your opinion on this, it is a nice improvement over the stock look for sure.  I will make sure to heed your  advice on neutral, that is the last thing I need is a runaway car!  :brickwall:

OK, thank you for clarifying that.  So the new handle also has a button?  Pic of the pistol grip does not show it, I was wondering how they handled that.

I'm not sure on the pistol grip how they do it.

no button on the pistol grip , you just push up or down on the whole shifter  as you slide it back ,  its really tight at first but it come with grease and the more you use it the easier it gets .    :icon_smile_big:     its take a little getting used to but after a while you dont even have to think about it anymore .

OK, that should not be a problem, I can get used to that pretty quick, seems like a good system they have worked out.

With the shifter in 1st or Drive can you still open the console door?

You can unbolt the automatic gear indicator bezel and put in a shifter boot.

While I like the looks of the Iconic Hurst Pistol Grip Shifter, there is just something about it sticking out of a console “without” the boot that looks funny and out of place.  It just looks naked sitting there on top of the shifter handle.

I wanted a Pistol Grip shifter for my ’08 Challenger and found that the boot from a 6-Speed Challenger would fit and give it a factory look.  Plus, it appears to all to be a manual transmission (unless of course you start counting the number of pedals….but they are hard to see anyway).   Luckily the new Challenger has the transmission gear indicator in the dash, so losing the center console indicator is no big deal.  Unfortunately, that would not be the case with an older B-body, but I feel the shifter would look better (just my opinion).

For my 70 Daytona clone/custom I installed a Hurst Lightning Rod shifter assembly under the stock console (only the rods showing).  I am not the first to use this setup as others have already done this modification.

Cool.
Funny this thread should pop up. I was discussing shifters recently with a phone call to Gunslinger. Currently they do not offer one for '68-'70 B-body automatics, only E-bodies. The person I spoke with said they were developing one for B-bodies, hopefully to be available by January.
I'd like to install one, just have to make sure it's compatible with my Keisler gate.
I totally forgot about Duncan, they are literally 1/2hr away from me.

That looks awesone!  Like you said, unless they looked at the number of  pedals, they would be none the wiser.  That gives me an idea, does anyone know if the manual console plate opening is in the same location as the shift indicator section where the auto shifter protrudes?   If so, can maybe swap plates and use the factory shifter boot, that would complete the look.  I have one laying around somewhere, was in good shape last I saw it, if needed.  :scratchchin:
