Well, day was a dosie for sure.....  Thought I'd pass along my day to my Mopar brethren........

Started with the passing of my mother ( end-stage dementia ) and ended with Jacob in his very first day of football in school. Had initial thoughts of skipping the football game ( how could one enjoy the day with Mom/Grandma having passed on ). But, soon realized Mom would want it this way and it was the right thing to do. Jacob deserved to be at his very first organized football game for his school and Mom deserved to be remembered........... So, we did both.

Now, tomorrow all the arrangements for the funeral and planning to get siblings in. They live far away, we cared for Mom for the past 9 years pretty much until the end.. God bless my wife, she was a guardian angel to our family with Mom's care here at the house, it wasn't easy on the whole family and we gave up a LOT on family activities to care for her......... Wouldn't have changed anything....

Now, I hope I don't screw up the funeral arrangements. It will be a very simple grave site ceremony having Mom laid to rest next to Dad. Thanks to Bill for calling today and giving me some pointers so we don't get taken advantage of during this time. This place seems on the up and up ( did Dad's arrangement/process )...

Here is Jacob's team during warm ups.. He's the starting wide receiver...  :2thumbs:  You go boy !!!  and his number is #1...

God Bless you Mom........

Sad to hear.  Best of wishes to you and your family. :pity:   Also  :2thumbs: for taking your son to the football game.  I'm sure it was a hard game to play for him being new and with the news, but it probably made the day a little easier for him as well.

Thanks everyone...... Well, we didn't tell Jacob (12) and Julie (7) until we got home. Didn't want to put a bummer-mood on their night.

Sorry Troy.  It is a hard thing to do, that is "care for someone with that condition 24/7" and your family has been thru some rough times. especially your wife.  Bless you all and, especially your wife, for caring for your mother as long as you did it. The next few days will be rough but, time has a way of healing us and remembering the good times we had. We will say a prayer for you and your whole family !

Very sorry to hear about your loss.  It was the right decision in my book to do what your mother would have wanted, but I know it was (and will continue to be) difficult.  My condolences.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....
