Me and the guys went around and around this topic when they were new. My 2nd choice was the French connection chase.
It is interesting how well they have held up over time given the CGI chases we see today.

I wonder what some of the newbes in this world have to say about this.

I think the tribute/homage Mustang and Charger car chase in Alcatraz is better than any of the CGI eye-gouge-fests that plague our theaters now, and this includes the 'Fast series, of which I am a good fan of...

I'd still say the original Gone in 60 Seconds chase tops the Bullitt chase.  There's a wine coloured vinyl top 68 in a parking lot during the chase too  :coolgleamA:
