actually, the inventor of the segway is Dean Kamen, invented it in 2001, still alive. the man known as Jimi Heselden owned the company which he bought in december 2009. but yeah, rode it off a cliff

that dosent sound right, with the smaller 67-68 with available BB power and the also smaller 69-70's Im not inclined to believe that?  :shruggy:

Agreed, I had one in an early 70's Ranchero (swapped in, not factory) and it was a mutha.

Eh, I might be off a bit, but I think the new 5.0's are the "quickest" Mustangs of all time; they turn and brake really well, too...

The potential was there - You woke yours up - which is good. They needed something. Stock for stock - they were underwhelming compared to the other cars of the day. But they were a beautiful car....always one of my faves....had a few over the years. :2thumbs:

You would be correct - 71 Boss 351 though. The other 351s were fast but the Boss had some "improvements" in the engine. Many Mach 1s with the 351 came with a 2bbl carb. These had relatively small port heads, a 300ish CFM carb, and, I believe, a single exhaust. The next step up (and much rarer) was the 4bbl 351. On the Cleveland this meant special heads with HUGE ports (same ones originally spec'd on the Boss 302), higher compression (around 11:1), an upgraded cam, and dual exhaust. The Boss 351 took the same engine a step further with an even bigger carb, hotter cam, exhaust, etc. Even in that giant pig of a body it was quick! Low 13s in stock trim if I remember right.

I love the 428 powered cars but, yes, the 390 (especially) and other big block Mustangs weren't much to write home about right off the showroom floor. Not to mention the pure joy of trying to change spark plugs! Tasca started putting 428s in at their dealership when Ford refused to acknowledge just how crappy the 390 was as a race engine - but even that didn't take them as far as they would have liked. The Boss 429 was just too expensive to be "common" enough for most racers.

I will say i would have felt bad for the car if it would have been a 69-70 M1. Those 71-73 ouff almost as ugly as those late 70 gia mustangs.

Completely agree, the mid 70's were dark times for Ford Motor Co, or just cars in general...
