I saw that link. I think someone thinks the direction of the water pumps impellers are different. They only spin one way...period.

Dont the V8 marine engines turn the other way.

the face of the impellers are different, but the tab that moves the water is still 90* on all of them. The "V" portion that you see will make no difference on cooling. Some HP pumps are completely flat on the back side

Not sure where the question about rotation direction came from but all of my engines turn the same way. I have never seen a figure eight vbelt arrangement or a water pump pulley driven by the top of the belt.
If a marine engine called for opposite rotation than the pump housing would have to opposite as well.
The water comes in to the center of the impeller and is flung out to the discharge ports. They are curved to accept that water flow direction.
