This could almost be a modern-day Christine. How long before it kills someone?  :scared:

Is is the new Mercedes that will apply the brakes FOR YOU incase someone/something runs out in front of you(Front sensors)?  :o

How long until that causes a huge accident in rush hour traffic?

Driving today is becoming more effortless and more dangerous IMO.  :eek2:

I'd prefer just educating people to drive than cars that drive themselves.  Problem with that is too many people aren't responsible enough behind the wheel let alone in other aspects of their lives.  Technology can be a good thing I guess, but you can't fix stupid.  I think if I wanted a car that would have a mind of its own, I'd go get a horse.

I have said for some time.....

The more you try to idiot-proof something.....you get more, and more determined, idiots.

My old 2005 Cadillac CTS will apply brakes if it senses a slower vehicle ahead (called front Radar)along with a alarm...it won't "stop" the car tho...but most of the new cars will stop especially at low speeds.
The tech is out there for cars to drive themselves, park themselves, and take themselves in for service...but...right now the cost is still too high...it will get lower and lower as technology gets easier and better...prolly be a time where we won't "drive" our cars.

It may have started with automatic shift transmissions. I can imagine a car guys resistance to a car that will shift all by it's self. Giving up control is hard to do.

Mike DC

I'm not really surprised they can design a car to park itself within the confines of a parking structure.

But can it deal with two dozen other unmanned cars like it trying to park themselves at the same time?  And some human drivers mixed among them too?  Etc.

Don't the unmanned cars ever argue with each other about which one of them got to the intersection first?

ws23rt

Taken further. Years from now a collectable car can take it's self to the car show and handle all the questions from the crowd. Yes I am all original check my software. Yeeesh these guys don't even know what software is. :brickwall:

Is the brain becoming obsolete?
I guess in the future when someone tells you ....you've got shit for brains you can respond with.........."it doesn't matter"

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.
