Can anyone help with locating a new set of headlight vac hoses for a 68. They were being repoped a couple years ago but now are not.

i can always clean up the old ones, but how do you go about this.

JB400

In the Year one catalog, they are made in with the headlight wiring harness.

Hard Charger

unfortunately the hoses included with the light harness are the 2 ends that go to the pods only. you still use your original hoses.

HeavyFuel

You must talking about the trio of hoses that come from the switch on the dash, through the firewall and connect to the headlight harness?

If so, I don't think anyone is making those now.

Are you able to splice in new lengths of vaccuum line?

Hard Charger

Yes it is the bundle of hoses from the switch to the headlights.

you can splice in new hose but you cannot replicate the rubber junction block (that i know of) that attaches to the switch. i hate to ruin what i have to destroy my original set to have it not work. is there a way to refresh the old hoses??

i have been searching for a new set for almost a year. i did find one other in that time that was no better than what i have.

Since all that is going through the hoses, might as well try to get them clean.  Soak them in something mild.  I'd try warm water and dsih soap first to see how far you get.  I left the little vacuum hose on the carb a while back when I was soda blasting it and it looks brand new so that may be an option as well.  I'd still try the milder approach first.

Your best bet is to scour the swap meets at any car shows you go to.  I got lucky last year at Carlisle and was able to find a set for a 69. It was sitting on a table of closeouts in a plastic unmarked bag. I recognized it and as I picked it up the proprietor asked If I knew what it was. I nodded and asked him what was up. Said it was his last set and it was the "display model" which is why it was just in a bag. Got a great deal on them too.  I found lots of cool stuff at Carlisle.  :yesnod: Just didn't find any piles of money at the house before I left.  :P

:iagree:
Bill Alphin was making/selling them for a while but ran into some trouble with locating striped hoses for the original look IIRC. Not sure now if all the other components are still available but if they do you might be able to replicate them with generic vacuum hoses.

Hard Charger

unless i get lucky at a big show and find a set packed away i will be maqking them. i am ok if it does no have the right ribbing or color.

Lost track a bit of what you're looking for, but mine are all black and just push individually on to the back of the headlight switch, no clips. If it's junctions you need, can you do it with screen wash hose and connectors?
