I heard HEMI 5-speeds sometimes sold in the 1,500 rage is that true?

I would really like to snag this baby, but I think reserve is TOO HIGH...  Hell, I'd leave it blue...  (Petty's color)...  Cool story if it's true...

1500 sounds good, but that hasn't even hit the reserve. I could also care less who owned the thing, its just a tranny. It does come with a bunch of goodies also which sounds like a pretty good deal. But, I bet he has a 3k reserve on it because of the Petty connection and I'd rather build an all aluminum A-833 hemi 4 speed for fun at that price!

;DJust watch and see - if his reserve is met at all. And being painted has killed the numbers that it would have otherwise generated. If it was as delievered from New Process in 1969, 1970 or so, it would fetch the price of a few small countries. The painted surface has decimated the real value.

You can get rebuilt ones in the $1500-1700 range but that's only for the trans (I paid $900 though so there are deals). That one comes with the clutch, PP, flywheel, clutch fork, throwout bearing, and shifter so you could easily be in the $2200-2600 range buying it all new from Passon or Brewer's. You'll need to find a later style aluminum bellhousing to fit the smaller flywheel which is even more $$$. If I'm reading the numbers right it's a 1970 model which might work out for someone with a concourse car. Someone may dump a pile of cash on it just because it's NOS but I agree with 6pkrunner that the paint killed what could have been. If it goes above $4000 then I'd just buy a brand new aluminum setup from Passon and not worry about originality. :D

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Right - and I should mention that when I stated "real value", I menat what the money tossers would have paid for it, not the actual worth of the item. A good 18 spline is anywheres from a low of $750 to $1800 for the high end of things. And deals can still be found out there.

You can get one of Jamie Passon's rebuilt Hemi 4-speeds for $1525.00 with a warranty. http://www.passionperformance.com/p194.html

Hell, you can get one of his new overdrive 4-speeds for $2,995.00 and be able to cruise down the highway all day at 2600RPM with 4:10s out back knowing that the tranny you're running is STRONGER than a stock 18 spline 4-speed.

And Jamie's reputation is impeccable.
I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.
