I have a MSD Digital 6 ignition and use an old sun inductive timing light to set the timing. Are there any newer "dial-back" timing lights that work with MSD or should I just buy a MSD timing light?

Can't remember what brand mine is, but my dial back seems to work fine with my MSD Street Fire ignition. Also worked on my Mallory Hyfire VI-AL. Not sure how accurate it is, but it's definitely consistent.

I'll post the brand/model when I get home to check it.

I appreciate it. MSD recommends you do not use a "dial-back" timing light or, at least, do not use that particular function but I know some work and some do not. The MSD brand timing light is around $160.00 for the cheapest one and I am pretty sure You can get a dial-back that works for less.

Are any of your Mallory ignitions multiple-spark like the MSD?

Both the msd street fire and mallory hyfire are multispark.

Actron CP7519. Made in USA!

I've probably had it for 10 years, but I don't recall where I purchased it.

I Googled it and this came up:

As I stated earlier, seems to work fine on my cars, even at lower RPM. I do set final timing at 3000 rpm with the timing marks, not the dial back.

The flaming river timing light works fine with a MSD box and it's cheap.  :2thumbs:

Thanks for the replies. Seems Craftsman timing lights (dial-back type) all work fine and a few others also. MSD brand timing lights are way more expensive than most others. The MSD ignitions work very well and I am sure their timing lights are first class but, I think most other brands seem to work just fine.
