Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) w/ Nitto drag radials?  Specifically, I'm interested in their 325/50/R15 but would like to hear feedback on any of their tires.

thanks.

Friends use them and like em.... :2thumbs:

Hey Mike, good to hear from you.

Yeah, I want to put a bigger tire on in the back and get the back end up a little (like 2-3").  A drag radial is probably overkill but just kicking ideas around now since I can't drive the car in the winter.  The back end is about an inch lower than the front which bugs me (for some reason).  Do you recall if anything was done to the springs when it was restored?

BTW, have you done anything to the superbird yet?

Same here, some friends have them and like them.

Hey Paul, the leafs are original.  The front torsion bars are cranked up a little, which is why the front is slightly higher.  If you want to level, that would be the quickest way. :2thumbs:

The Bird was driven from the street to the garage and been sitting since.  The thing barely fits in my damn garage. :brickwall:  I've been picking up some parts and think it will be getting restored next Fall/Winter.

Hope all is well.

I ran the drag radials on my Charger and loved them. Hook reasonably well, good treadwear, and a V-speed rating. No other drag radials can touch them in terms of the speed rating and treadwear.

I put many miles on mine, including some very wet roads with no issues.

extensively used them for years on two of my cars, regular series high speed all season radials, not the drag radials,  and they work great, decent tread life, good grip until tread gets a bit shallow.  Heard many endorse the drag radials in the svt cobra crowd, nitto tends to be a little narrower compared to competitors.
69 RT/SE Y3 cream yellow w/tan vinyl top and black r/t stripe. non matching 440/375, 3:23, Column shift auto w/buddy seat, tan interior, am/fm w/fr to back fade, Now wears 17" magnum 500 rims and Nitto tires. Fresh repaint, new interior, new wheels and tires.

Thanks for the input - especially regarding the treadwear.  What size did you run and do you have a pic?

I had 245/45 zr17's on the stealth, and 275/50 zr17s on the svt cobra

Unfortunately, i don't have any pictures of either that would show the tire width, have pics but not quite low enough to see the width of the tires.  The 245/45s looked almost as wide as the 275s.  I currently have 245/45s on my stealth turbo, and when my tires wear out on the challenger i'll likely put nittos on that one as well, provided they make them in 20s. The cobra crowd tended to prefer 315s in the rear, especially in drag radials since they were a little narrower than BFG drag radials.

Ran them on a couple different occasions. Only pics I've got handy:

One nice thing about the Nittos is the V speed rating which makes them safe for extended highway use. No other drag radial offers that.
Good like finding a V rated front tire to compliment them though. I ran Firestone PVs (cop tires)at the time, but the 15s have since been disco'd.

I never realized your car was the one that motivated me to get another 69.  On the page you linked, I had the first pic printed off and stuck to my wall at work so I could remember why I was doing all that crap.

So in the last pic there, that tire is a 30" tall 275/60r17?  Looks pretty damn good.  If you have more pics of that I'd love to see them.  What size is on the front?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Those 17s are 255-50-17 and 275-50-17 Nitto NT450s

the neo-gens were the best tires for the price i ever had - too bad they only make them in the smaller sizes...
