Engine compartment Paint Questions

1968 Charger R/T
I just pulled the Engine and Transmission and will start cleaning up the engine compartment.  I will start with a couple of questions here knowing that as I get into it, more will come.

1 - Originally, the front face of the radiator support was black.  A few years ago, in my exuberance, I rubbed it down with acetone until all the black came off leaving the body color.  When I re-paint the support, what brand and type of black should be used?  Does that include the very top face of the support, where the part number is stamped?

2 - The body support, in the engine compartment that has the motor mount bases attached, had 44 years of build-up on it (1/8 to 1/4 inch thick).  I used a small putty knife to scrape the majority off.  The question is: was that framework painted?  If it was, the paint was deteriorated because it came off with the putty-like buildup leaving some black and some shiny bare metal behind.  If it should be painted, what should be used there?

Thank you, for now
John

Not sure about #1, since my car is black it's moot. There have been threads here about it though and I believe it's a satin black. http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,5621.0.html

#2 I assume you're talking about the k-frame or k-member. What they were originally seems to vary depending on who's doing the talking but usually the guys here redo them in semi gloss black. If you're using paint this seems to be the route to go: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,12816.0.html

However, a lot of guys powder coat theirs, myself included: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,99904.0.html
