Well, after about one month shy of 2 years, she is finally resting in her own garage tonight. :woohoo:
I am very pleased with the job and now the puzzle project begins.

In fact that is 1967 - P1
Very Cool Bob! Will we see it at Moparfest in 2013?
It will be cool to see the two cars sitting together both the same color like that.

Well, that is my goal, to have it done for summer 2013 with the shakedown cruise being our show last weekend in June.
As far as the color, I was never a fan of the 73 red, Too much orange and brown in it. I remember sitting in a paking lot under florecent lights and it looking brown to me on occasion. That is why I went with the deeper red of P1. It's a really long story on why I decided to change the color.
CONGRATS ON GETTING IT HOME WITH THE NEXT MONTH OF RAIN MAYBE YOU TWO WILL GET AHEAD OF PLANS . HAVE FUN .
looking good. :2thumbs:
Congratulations!
Nice to see it home Bob. Now like you said the game begins.....where did I put that and where does this go again? :2thumbs:
Looks Good Bob !

Very nice !
Started with the easy stuff, trunk, speakers, defogger blower motor, rear bumper and moving forward. A little bit each night with the wife's help. So far, so good! ;D

I have been following your progress. You will have this car running sooner than later. I practically lived in the garage once I started putting everything back together. I suspect you will want to do the same. Nice work.
P.S. Thanks for the tip about Bill Balzer (battery cable). Ray
Looking good Bob! :2thumbs:
Great work Bob by you and the Mrs. :2thumbs: Can't wait to see it in August
A little more done yesterday and today. We did the blower motor (not that I'll ever need it) and speakers and found that they neglected to paint under the package tray. Well, he wants it back in the spring to give it another buffing anyway, that'll have to be corrected.
Martha and I started on the interior today. Got some insulation and as long as there are no moving parts in the rear quarters put some in there and also started on the floor insulation.
Duct wrap, that stuff is GREAT.
That is one roll ... three should cover it and then some
Great job. I have to say I'm jealous that your wife is interested in helping. :2thumbs: I'm lucky if my wife jumps in a car for a ride.

If you chack out the thread here from a while ago:
http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,68701.0.html
I used it on my 67 as well a couple other folks here. EASY to use and I do the seams with the aluminum tape.
Home Depot or Lowes and it is something like $15 or 16 a roll now. Well worth it with it's ease of use and sticks well.
Seems like I spend a lot of time looking for things, nuts, bolts, screws etc.
So today before I continued with the interior, I decided to clean off boxes from the dining room table. Some of this stuff has to come off again but hey at least now I can find other zip locs with items in them.
Did the shroud and inspection cover and canister as well as firewall stuff.
Also did the other side with the insulation.
Will finish the hump and tape the rest of the seams tomorrow.
Ready for carpet
Update 11/12/12
I did much of the easy stuff first because I knew eventually many installations will fight me.
Ohhh yeah! Nothing has been simple. We did the insulation and started with the carpet install.
Trim Parts, - WOW, plenty of carpet here. I had forgetten how much time it takes to get the wrinkles out and still leave it molded to the floor. Seems my 67 was easier.
Also my wife, who has been an AMAZING help to me, but she sort of ... kinda forgot that this console doesn't cover the hump as it does in the 67 and cut a few peices a bit short. So we spent part of the time piecing those and she is going to go back and sew them so they stay tight. Having said that it is in except for the trimming of the edges. So, i go to put the console on. Again, nothing lines up.
I had purchased a new chrome shifter plate and whether that had anything to do with this or not, dunno. But the shifter was MUCH lower on one side than the other. Console all the way down, make sure everything is tight. Only thing to do is shim. 2 or 3 times to see if it is correct and I got it.
My son was going away for a week or so, so I asked hime to come over and help with the front bumper on Thursday. Again, NOTHING lines up. Got it close and I will go back to it but another thing that made no sense, the grill on the passenger side. Headlamps are 3/4 of an inch off. Long story short, I had to remove the bracket with the headlamp buckets and elongate the holes so as to move it to one side so the pieces will fit around the headlamps - unbelieveable.
Another thing that has been a chore is finding all the nuts/bolts/screws. When we took it apart we labeled everything in small zip-lock bags and taped it to the item.
Where some of this stuff has gone is beyond me.
Well, as always the link is newest pics first. As mentioned in another thread, I need a plastic piece that covers wires on the steering column. http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,96603.0.html
73 WAY different than 74 which is the column I bought. Nothing is the same.

Glad your making progress. :2thumbs: Can we expect some burn outs by Christmas
Lookin good! So happy to hear that you get to share the build time with your wife too! :2thumbs:
The Charger is finally starting to look like I remember.
Baker, my wife helps me ALOT. In fact the other day I get a text and a picture, after we did the driver side together, she did the passenger carpet trimming and put in the rear panels on her day off while I was at work! :yesnod:

To avoid confusion here is a pic of it on the firewall, near bulkhead.
As I have mentioned in the past, we try to work about an hour each evening on the Charger.
Martha is able to get in the smaller spaces better than me so we did the heater/AC controls. What a project and you have to be an octopus to get in all the small areas.
But anyway, the new (er) replacement is in and done. I only wish the car was running to see if all this stuff works!
Pics on the site, newest at top as always.

Back seat is in and now I am waiting for my headliner guy and other than the door glass and panel, interior is almost done. :icon_smile_big:
Eh, so I have a two tone white interior now. It actually looks much brighter in the pics.
http://www.retrorarities.com/Resto2/index.html
Awesome Bob! Love that white!
Great job!...so jealous...........my car sits lonely :smilielol:....maybe one day I will get back at it.............yours is awesome!
Great job!! :2thumbs:
Keep us posted with your updates......it's coming along great!
:2thumbs:
Well, we did the headliner today. Legendary liner with R.E.M. stickers on it so I am not sure who exactly made it but it was nice.
A friend from our Mopar club came over who had done several before. It went in well and almost all the wrinkles are out. Once the vinyl roof is on he is coming back to do the sail panels. But everything went OK over all.
Now, I knew the car had sat and when we pulled the old carpet out there had been mice, or remants of them. But I had NO IDEA what we were in store for today. O-M-G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jake said that the liner that was in it was nice but not original. Looked had made he said. So it had been out of the car before obviously and hence the different roof insulation/padding.
It was awful. They'd chewed everywhere. And the stuffing and mouse poop. Unreal! These pics do not do justice to the amount of crap there as up there.
Pics at the usual http://www.retrorarities.com/Resto2/index.html - newest first.
Been waiting for the weather to break and just getting small items in order, I finally got the go to bring 'er into the shop to get the drive train in and running. :smash:
Once she is movable, then it's off the have the vinyl roof installed, front windshield and door window. (Hopefully) Then ... detail it and start driving! :boogie: :boogie: :boogie: :boogie: :boogie:
Well, I'm happy to say that after several months of tinker with this and adjust that, we got the car to the shop Saturday and I took the day off today to work on it.
They were fairly swamped so I had to do the majority of it myself. With a little help here and there, lots of questions and looking for the correct bolts, I got the engine, transmission and drive shaft in and much of the engine pieces reassembled. Frankly I didn't think I could accomplish that much all by myself.
But with a bit of guidance I did and I finally have something to report. :icon_smile_big:
Hopefully with in the week she'll be running.

Well, I thought it was going to come home today. Everything in, and although crude she started up. However somehow over the last 2 years the fuel pump died. So it ran as long as we poured fuel in it.
Fuel pump on order, hopefully Monday.
On another note I could use some pictures of plug wire routing. 400 4bbl with A/C.
MAN, I can't seem to get these looking right!!!

Sure! You can get one in burgundy...or maroon!
It was a nice evening last night so I pulled the 73 out of the garage last night to tinker with some electrical gremlins ... one of which is the passenger window issue - it won't move.
I took all the trim off the rocker panels and door panels trying to figure out why it wasn't getting power. After testing the motor and it worked I could see no problems and only assumed I forgot to plug in something under the carpet ... great!
So I started to put things back together and viola, it worked. So I exercised it and lubed what I could see because it was noticeably slower than the other. Fooled with it for an hour, up and down ... got it ALL BACK TOGETHER ... and now it won't work - AGAIN.
My neighbors got an ear full! :brickwall:
I thought I heard something coming from the East that night clear over here

Bob, remove the switch and put 12v to the plug, see if it works. Usually the switches come loose and need some tightening.
Yep, first thing I did was check the motor Dirk. It is slow, but works. It will eventually need to be replaced.
I took it apart again last night. I found the switch wires loose. It is a pinch style that goes over a pin and the plastic piece that is supposed to hold it in place isn't quite doing the job. In any case a little "adjusting" and we are back in business. :2thumbs:
Only a minor outbreak as some of the paint scraped from the door panel when I removed it AGAIN - but I was in the garage, so only the cats and wife heard. :RantExplode:
We had some nasty storms here last night.
I completely missed this thread. Now all you need is a 2nd generation & you're set.
Good lookin' rig, course like most, I'm partial to red.
It looks similar to my buddy's. He spent a pile of $$ on the paint & body on his. The guy kept screwing it up & James kept paying. Unusual for him to be swindled like that. He finally had to threaten to dot the dude's eyes' to finish the car.
One of my 2 hoods is finished and got delivered by my body guy last night. Quite a bit of time adjusting but it came out nice.
A couple of quick notes speaking of hoods. The one thing he forgot was (and I am not sure what you call it) the secondary or safety latch. But my question is this: does the hood with hood pind have that latch? Or do the pins act as the second safety latch? If not, I will have to get that off my other hood, or find a used one.
Another quick note about the differences in in hoods. This is a 71 hood on a 73 SE. I had to remove the bumper braces, which basically do nothing anyway, so the hood would close because of the lip on the under side. When I have a moment I will find the "hood" thread and post a few pics. So it WILL work, but as with anything a minor modification is either needed to the hood, or leave the braces/brackets off.
looks like a nice little BBQ serving tray in the middle of that hood....how does it do keeping food warm?? :nana:

How's the thermoquad doing?
Hesitates a bit, but I haven't had time to play. I did the timing mostly by ear and the old AFB set up with the "turn one down until it stumbles, then back a quarter turn" etc.
I believe I have all the ports in the proper place but again, something I have to check.
It ran awful until I found I had #4 and #6 plug wire reversed. :shruggy: Not sure how I did that but it's running fairly good now. More tweaking for sure! :smash:

These are the stainless and frankly they shine just as well as the chrome as you can see, very pleased.

Bob,
The complaint was that the red paint heated up and flaked / peeled off. I think Nacho had that issue with his. I could be wrong. As for if they were chrome or stainless ones that peeled, that I don't know.
