What is the best way to remove the old woodgrain finish?
Is it possible to straighten out the metal plate?
The trim plate is being repopped for the 3rd gens.

A heat gun works well to remove the woodgrain decal. Then, a solvent to remove the glue residue.
The plate is thin pot metal, good luck straightening it without cracking it. Be careful!
I used Klean-Strip brand paint and varnish stripper and the old sticker came right off.
