Title: Alternator Question! amp rating
Post by: 1st_charger on April 06, 2009, 02:15:35 PM
How do you tell what amp alternator you have by looking at it? I have the one on the car and an extra one I was going to have rebuilt as a spare and was wondering how to tell what the amp rating was! Thanks for your help!!!

Are you sure it is not 3438173? I can't find a 713. This high a part number should be a 2 field alternator - '70 up but your pic is a 69. Are you running a dual field alternator?

If it is 3438173 that is a 50 amp unit....standard is 37 amp.

Yes your right! I got those two numbers backwards! Yes it has two field connections! My car is a 69 but there it's not factory stock!  Thanks for the reply!
