I am working on my '68 Charger's front brakes which are the originals and have never been off of the car.
I cannot get the drums free from the hub, which I removed from the spindle as 1 unit.
I have tried heating with a torch and soaking with PB Blaster. I don't want to break anything so I stopped trying. Any others that have had the same problem?

This may help.

I have already read that string, but those suggestions did not work for me. Apparently the problem is removing the factory wheel stud "swedging" to seperate the two pieces. I'm going to see if the drums can be turned with the hubs attached before I do anything else. Thanks.
Get a drum puller, it might damage them but so what you are going to changed them right ? If they still won't pop off hit them on the sides with a hammer. If you get tried leave the puller on tight, it may just pop off after a few hours, if not keep hitting the drums and thighen the puller some more. Watch out, someting may crack or fly off. I would keep a few lug nuts on the studs a few turns.
they were never designed to be removed from the hub once sweged into place unless replacing the drums in which case the old drums were junk & could be damaged to remove them
Right to the junk pile with them.. It's time for disc brakes.. ;)
That too
I hear you on the disc brake setup. This is just a temporary fix so I can get the car on the road this fall. Car has been in storage for 20+ years. I've just completed a 340 install in place of the orig. 318 which is the orig. engine, with headers, comp cams, Demon carb, etc. I have a disc brake setup with late model spindles, etc. but they won't clear the vintage 14" Cragar Mark 8 ? aluminum wheels that are on the car now. I plan on upgrading to 15" Cragar S/S or Am. Racing torq D wheels and new tires next year, if funds permit.
I will probably be selling the old Cragars to offset the cost.
