Title: Changing out the OG Carter?
Post by: CaptMarvel on December 29, 2024, 04:06:50 PM
Hi All, I haven't been on here in a million years. Id like to change out the orig Carter carb (4640S) on my 68' R/T and get it road worthy again after 20 yrs, mostly just so I can move it around easier and take in for stuff when needed....What would be a good choice to keep it about the same CFM/size so the stock hood can still fit etc?...Id like to be able to adjust the new carb easily & have at least what I have now with the stock 440 Magnum. It's a console 727 auto car. Last time I did any mech work was probably early 1980's, so Im very shade tree, but Id love to do this..you get the idea..Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Edelbrock 750 or 800 AFB style. They have the AVS now also and many like that as well.

I used a Proform 750 but that needs an adapter for the linkage.

I used a CH4B bought used so the stock air cleaner still fits with a 1/2 inch heat insulator under the carb.
