Hey All,
I received a message from someone asking for the part number on a correct black steel 14 inch Superbird spare rim. Before I could respond the message disappeared from my phone. Does anyone have an original correct spare that could post the number. Maybe the person will see it here. Thanks
I was asked also - I'm looking for a picture that someone recently posted of an original spare - just thought I'd add .....
- the question was about a correct 14x5.5" spare wheel for a ROAD/RALLYE wheel car
I had asked about info on the original 14" Superbird spare rim recently. I found only a couple of rims to get pics of. Most seem to be 15" on these (they do look beefier). The first pics are from the 600 mile Superbird at MCACN last month with 14x5 1/2" rallys. It had only one numeral of 25 beside the valve stem.
The second pics are from an original patina 70 Road Runner with 14's. Wheel had a date of 2-18-70. No part number. Not the greatest pics, but didn't want to crawl inside of someone's trunk for better ones.
But I still think the Superbird rim looks more deeper dished than the Road Runners... So, are the Superbirds 6" wide, with no part number, compared to Road Runners, maybe 5 1/2"?
Want to buy the right one the first time...
the STANDARD wheel on Superbird and/or Road Runner is 14x6.0" painted body color with hub caps (or painted black with OPTIONAL full wheel covers *** W11 "deluxe" or W15 "wire") with a matching spare
if OPTIONAL W23 "ROAD" or W21 "14" RALLYE" wheels were ORDERED, they were 14x5.5" & the spare would be a black painted steel wheel in the same 14x5.5" size
also available with OPTIONAL F60-15 POLYGLAS GTs:
body colored 15x7.0" steel wheels (2944450) with hub caps & a matching spare
or OPTIONAL W21 "15" RALLYE wheels (2944390) in 15x7.0" with a black painted 15x7.0" steel wheel spare (2944450)
those both appear to be 14x5.5" wheels
and here are a couple of 14x6.0 one with the 2944327 part number & one without :shruggy:

Ah yes, the trained eye can spot that 5.5 rim stamp right away. That's where I need to be. Still need that wheel from October 69... Thanks for the help.
