Got this from another forum. If you are thinking of getting a new truck to pull the Charger this summer may be the time!

ST. PETERSBURG, FL. Cummins gave reporters an overview of how its heavy- and medium-duty 2007 engines will differ from its current models as the engine maker prepares to roll out several "beta prototypes" to select truck manufacturers this month for final testing.
Jeff Weikert, executive director of mid range engineering, noted that the medium-duty product line for 2007 will include a new beefed-up 6.7-liter ISB, replacing the current 5.9-liter platform. The '07 ISB will offer 325 hp and 750 lb-ft of torque – an improvement over current ISBs by 50 ponies and 90 lb-ft. He also said Cummins' ISC (330 hp, 1,000 lb-ft of torque) and ISL (365 hp and 1,250 lb-ft of torque) will be equipped with the same exhaust gas recirculation technology (EGR) currently used on the ISB platform.
Weikert added that 170 beta prototypes of Cummins' entire mid-range line are scheduled for production starting this month, with 150 earmarked for fleets in the U.S. and Canada and 20 for the engine maker's engineering research team. This follows 2.5-million miles of total medium- and heavy-duty '07 engine testing that began in May 2005.
The 6.7 is already available in the new 2007 Ram Chassis/Cab, orders are being taken, it's due in the Summer.
6.7 liters is that still going to be an Inline 6?
Sounds like a heck of a lot of torque for a medium duty truck.

Yeah! ISB series of engines! Time to turn up the wick!

what's ISB?? (not too familiar with diesel engines, forgive me)
I'd love to drop that into a charger body :P would be pretty fun... hehe
Thanks for the heads up. My dad was thinking about buying a new Ram Cummins but i told him about this and he's gonna wait now till August.
I just got back from a 600 mile trip with my 5.9L 2005 Cummins. I have a Triple Dog programmer and is putting out over 400 horse and 700 ft/lbs of torque and I averaged over 20 miles/gallon at 70mph. My truck has more power than I need right now so I wonder what the aftermarket power upgrades will be with this new one. :o
Has Dodge gotten its auto tranny bugs worked out yet on the Cummins trucks? I'm all for lots of power but only if the rest of the drivetrain can handle it.

We run ISB, ISC and ISL Cummins engines in our bus fleets. I'm not too familiar with that end of the maintenance dept. but I believe the differences are mostly in the fuel pumps, electronics and slight variations in sizes. They are all inline sixes.
The new 6.7 will have a six speed automaitc or a six speed manual transmission in them. They are a inline six. I work at a dodge dealership as a tech, I own a 02 cummings and love it. I might go to a new truck after i have driven one, I am lucky i drive them when they are brand new and get to see how much power they have. Also for you guys that put on a box to get more power out of your cummings thats fine but you just voided your powertrain warranty and the engine is $13k. :icon_smile_cool: JR.

What if we add the bio-desiel conversion? :shruggy:

From what I have read the newer Cummins diesels are not as bio-diesel friendly as earlier models.
From what I've read over on the Mercedes Diesel form, the newer injectors, in general, have a problem with heaver oils. if you are running bio diesel that has been refined using lye to get the fats out of the oil there will be less of an issue on newer diesels, because the oil in thinner. But I think bio diesel id still thicker then "dino" diesel.
I thought I read that the dodge trucks were going to be getting Mercedes Diesels soon. Like the new Sprinter vans, they are built on a Mercedes van platform and have the heavy duty I5 Mercedes diesel engines.

So is your truck reg. cab? short box? More info. I would like to know what to expect from a full blown MAXIMUM sized cab. Maybe even towing through the mountains? ? Hahaha........ :icon_smile_big:
I also have a 2005 Cummins Turbo Diesel 6 speed. I have a K&N cold air intake, MBRP exhaust and a Quadzilla 35-60-100 horse adjustable box. The Quadzilla is easy to take off the truck should you ever need to take it in for service. Some dealers just like to be @ssholes about it if they think you have modded it. By law they have to prove that you did something to screw it up so don't let them intimidate you unless you have really gone wild with it.
So what avg. milage are you guys getting with your diesels??
Mine gets between 18-20. It's a Crew Cab 4x4. With all of the crazy torque I kinda wish I had an automatic so I could enjoy the powerband a little better.
Check out THEAUTOCHANNEL.COM FOR LOTS OF INFO ABOUT Biodiesel fuels. I got a lot of info about what Daimler Chrysler will be doing on that. Use of B20 is approved effective with the 2007 Model year and will require use of biodeiesel fuel that meets the fuel specifcations established by the U.S. military. Chrysler Group has previously endorsed use of B5 ( 5 percent biodiesel ) fuel in the jeep liberty CRD diesel SUV, and every vehicle is fueled with B5 at the assembly plant in Toledo. In addition, use of B2 is approved for the diesel powerd Dodge Sprinter vans. Most U.S. biodiesel is made from soy beans :icon_smile_cool:. However, Daimler Chrysler is participating in reserch in Germany and India to develop processes for producing high-quality biodiesel from non-food agricultural products. JR.

The truck is in my signature line. It is a 2005 2500 Quad cab shortbox 4 X 4 with a 6 speed and 3.73 gears. My engine is 325hp and 605 ft/lbs "stock" so I don't know why the article says the 6.7 is 50hp more than the current one. Maybe that is the automatic tranny version. I use a Bully Dog Triple Dog downloader so there is no "Box" installed in the truck. You simply plug it into the diagnostic port and upload the program of your choice and then remove the programmer. I have mine set on the middle Performance setting which is around 90hp+ over stock. There is a tow mode(50hp+) and Extreme mode(125hp). I cannot tell you how impressive the newer 2004.5-2006 325hp Cummins trucks are even left stock. Compared to the older 24 valve it is really night and day and they were great engines too. The newer Cummins is also much, much quieter than the earlier 24 valve.
My only complaint is that I wish they would have kept the 3.54 gears as the new Eaton rears come standard with 3.73's or 4.10's optional. These truck have more than enough torque to utilize a 3.54 gearset or even higher IMO. My truck will get 22mpg+ at 60-65 but, at 75 mph it will drop to 20mpg because of the rpm's. I plan on jumping up a tire size or two from the 265's when it comes time.
I really thought I would miss my 2001 V10 but, I was wrong....the diesel is better in every way.
Thanks for the reply, 69 4spd. I have talked to people around town with these trucks and most of them have not bothered to check milage. I have a V-10 F250 SD Monster cab. It is getting 11.6 all around avg. I was over 10 hauling my 65' to Florida from Las Vegas. The hard part for me changing trucks is that this truck has a fantastic ride. I drove a 3/4 X-cab last year with 3500 miles on it that rode like a lumber wagon. I damn sure do like the Meggggggggggggga cab though.. I wonder if the ride is any better?
I really can't complain about the ride with mine and it is a 4 X 4. What year was the extended cab that you drove?
My '01 Quad Cab(actually just an extended cab) rode worse than the '05 Quad Cab. Depending on what Mega cab you are thinking about the ride may not be much different. For example, the frame and wheelbase on a Mega Cab shortbox is the same as a Quad cab shortbox. They just shortened up the box by 6" or so.
If you are looking at a 2wd version the ride should be even better than mine. The true "crew" cab trucks with a 8' box will ride the best from my experience due to the long wheelbase. We have a 2003 1500 Ram Quad Cab 2wd with an 8' box at work and it rides like a caddy. ;)
It was a 2005' 4-door, (short 4-door), with a long bed. 2 wheel drive. The ride was harsh. My 250 Super Duty kicks it's butt... Maybe I'll drive a new one again. The one I drove was the owner of a dealerships personal driver. It was loaded to the gills. The GPS/Roadmaps unit was wild too. The damn thing spoke to you.. It wasn't mopar... I wonder what he's driving now!! :icon_smile_approve:
