I need help and it would be very much appreciated
I know there is a very long thread on wheels but info needs to be clear for me to understand
I've been looking for deep steelies for years and not pushed the button through unclear info
SO......
68 440 RT
I want 15" deep steelies, Can I go 10 on the back and 8 up front? If so what BS do I need and what size tyres? Note, there are no mods to bodywork and I'd like to keep it that way
Thanking you in advance.....any pics would be welcomed

Missed part of your first comment. You should be fine with a 10 on the rear, you will need to measure backspacing on both sides to be certain as no 2 cars are the same, but generally anywhere from 5 to 5.5 will fit. I would run a 295/50/15 on the rear and a 245/60/15 on the front with a 15 x 7 4.25 backspace. Again these are just how I would do it if I were going to pick out a set of 15" rims and tires.
I'm wanting to do the same setup on my 68 Charger. I haven't installed it yet, I've just gotten as far as measuring the space on my rear w/ the existing 245/60/15s on 8 inch wheels. My plan is to move those tires up to the front w/ 8" wheels (not 100% on backspacing yet but my current wheels are 8" with 4" backspacing and work just fine) and get 15x10 in the back w/ 295/50/15 tires. You'll want to measure for yourself but for me it looks like 5" backspacing would be the best to keep it centered within the wheel well.
Post pics if you move forward with that setup!
I've an idea 10's would foul on the tub if fitted with 295's?
If you have aftermarket quarters with a wide wheel lip 5" of backspace just rubs when I pull into an angled drive. Best bet would be 5.5" bs then shim out 1/4".
IMO, 10" wide and deep dish don't mix with a Charger quarter panel. Most deep dish wheels only have 3.25-3.5 backspace. Not enough to clear the wheel opening.
This is why so many of these combos in the '70s had long shackles or air shocks. Didn't work then, doesn't work now.

I have 15 X10 with 4 in. BS with a 28 in. X 10 bias and they clear at stock ride height . I don't know about a 295 . :Twocents:

How much room to from tire to fender? I'm surprised this doesn't hit already.

Its closer than I would like, about the width of a finger between the tire and the lip of the quarter. With a 5 in. BS. that I had before it rubs the inside wheelhouse and the spring occasionally. My setup needs a 4.5 to a 4.75 bs to be centered.
