the speedometer needle in my 69 road runner jumps back and forth when i drive it. it seems to be worse when i first start it up and start driving, then after a bit its not bad. its also worse at lower speeds. it jumps around back and forth pretty fast, but evens out as you pick up speed. It seems to be pretty acurate once you're going, but it just kinda twitches down the highway. Any ideas what would cause this?
loosen from speedometer... or tranny
thanks, i'll try that :yesnod:
Might be the speedo head itself as well.
Been there done that on my Charger :(
yeah i'll take it apart this spring sometime, i have a few 69 satellite parts cars if i need anything, its got the horizontal 120mph speedometer
Lubricate the cable with some lightweight grease. Chrysler used to make a lube specifically for speedo cables, I doubt anybody else still makes a speedometer cable lube.
one of my friends reccomended greasing the cable too, i'll be checking all these things, thanks guys!
