Hello all, newbie here.  Trying to help out a retired master chief (Navy) hunting for his old car.

'69 Charger RT/SE 440 Magnum. Was Dark Green with the Orange/red accent stripe (V8R) around the tail. Bought used in CA in 1975, sold due to electrical issues in Hatfield (Willow Grove) PA for $200 in 1978. He remembers there being 90k+ miles on it at that time.  Says the buyer was the son of someone working (or owning or something) at the local Dodge dealership who put a new wiring harness in it immediately and off he went.  Torqueflite, original Vinyl top although he took it off and painted it with "crinkle paint."  It had the "push/twist" type hood pins (must have been aftermarket 'cuz I don't believe any were produces with those).  Had all the SE decor.  Oil pan was damaged via a "bottom out" in Phoenix, "repaired" with liquid metal but still leaked.  Attached is a pic from another forum someone found for me which is the exact color and stripe, although not the car obviously.

Even if not interested in selling he says he'd be happy to provide ownership history details to the owner.

Looks to be a nice car.  Any chance of having a vin?  That will be a big help in your search.  Best of luck :2thumbs:

Welcome to the group

Working on the VIN.  He says he thinks he may have old insurance paperwork/registration or something.

hello & welcome   :2thumbs:

sounds an unusual color & strip combo of V8R  ,
but have heard a red bumblebee stripe mentioned before on a green 69 charger , no idea if it was an original V8R car though  :shruggy:

sure  Chris  ( Just 6T9 CHGR ) a moderator on here  , who also runs the awesome 69 charger registry   :coolgleamA: might have some info  :2thumbs:

Roger that tan top.  It does seem to be an odd combo.  Google images comes up with not a single example.  As stated, I got that pic above from a guy on the yenko forums.  All cards on the table.......I've never been a mopar guy.......but they're growing on me.  Got my eyes on an AAR Cuda right now as a matter of fact so we'll see how that goes.  She's seen better days though........

The V8R (red) Bumble Bee stripe is pretty rare.  Out of the over 1000 or so '69 Chargers I have registered that could have come with this stripe,I only have 17 registered examples.

4 A4 silver R/T's
1 F8 green Charger 500
1 T5 copper RT/SE
3 W1 white R/T's
7 X9 black R/T's (one is a Hemi)
1 X9 Black Charger 500
1 X9 black Daytona

Sadly I do not have your friend's old car as of yet

Now you said he bought it used (approx 6 years old already)  Possible the red stripe was added?  Was he certain it was actually coded for it?

A VIN would help

Chris

Reply much appreciated Chris.  Very true, six years old when he bought it so it certainly could have been an aftermarket addition along with the A/C.  A/C is a funny story as well.  He says it was aftermarket and on a cross country trip the car kept overheating.  Long story short the A/C ended up on the side of Rt. 80 somewhere in Nebraska.  Overheating problem solved.  Once he finds his old paperwork we'll have the vin and potentially find out.
