Have just restored my original AM thumbwheel radio and are about to install new front and rear speakers. I bought the speakers from Greg at http://www.turnswitch.com/. Front speaker is a 4x10 Slim Line and the rear speaker is an old style 5x7.

I will clean up and use the original front speaker metal bracket. Is there supposed to be a gasket between the dash and bracket?

Not a clue what's on there from the factory but you definitely want to have something between the metal dash and metal frame.  Anything that seperates the metals will work fine.

Dino, talked to Greg at http://www.turnswitch.com/. He told me there should be a molded rubber gasket between the dash and speaker bracket. It's long gone on my bracket, but I can see some traces of it. Guess the only way to replace it is to make a new gasket from some suitable material.

No kidding?  They actually spent money on molded rubber?  Ma mopar never seizes to amaze me!   :icon_smile_big:

We used to make gaskets out of old inner tubes from old truck tires, it's great for that purpose.  I'm not sure you have any tires handy but a 1/8" piece of flexible rubber should work great OR if you want to try and mimic the old stuff, why not get some of that liquid rubber you can brush or spray on?  Seems to me that would work real nice.  And then there's always black permatex gasket in a tube, that'll do it as well.

I will see what I can come up with and post some pictures!  :2thumbs:
