Okay, so if you saw my earlier post about what carb to choose, I am now diving into an intake. Bill recommends the Eddy CH4B and I now have read great things about it. I have now also seen the DP4B and am also reading great things. So what's the difference??? I have a 383, mostly stock and it looks like I am going to try and get either one of these.

Thanks!

The CH4B is a 440 manifold so it will not work with a 383. The one you want is the DP4B which is for the lowdeck 383. Both manifolds work very well  :2thumbs:

Oh okay, thanks Ron! Read your posts from years back about this manifold. I am excited to find a nice one somewhere!

Ah-HAH! Good catch!
You're 100% right, it slipped my mind that you have a 383 & not a 440. The DP4B is the 383 version.  :2thumbs:

The DP4B is worth searching for  :2thumbs:

Performance wise it is just a notch down from the Performer RPM but does not have any of the installation headaches associated with the RPM intake manifold. The taller RPM requires in most cases a drop base air cleaner assembly and modified throttle/kickdown linkage (auto trans) but you can use all the stock stuff with the DP4B so it's basicly a plug & play upgrade.  :icon_smile_cool:

Can you use a DP4B if using a heat crossover choke setup?

Nope, the DP4B does not have a choke well. I'd advise blocking off the heat crossover anyway to avoid vapor lock in the summer driving season. The Felpro 1214 intake gasket does this by simply installing it under the intake manifold. Use a carb base insulating gasket as well....keeps the fuel and carb cooler & prevents boiling/vapor lock.

If you really need to have a choke, install an electric choke.

as far I know DP4B stands for Dodge Plymouth 4 barrels and CH4B stands Chrysler 4 Barrels. Dunno why make that difference between diff big block heights... :shruggy:
