I had a set of 14"x 6" chrome magnums on mine for a while & will probably get a another set in a 15" size.

Here are a couple of random Satellite pics I found, one with the magnums & one with Keystone Classics.

damn, now I realize how jacked up my grille is  :rotz:
you might be able to get that straightened ?

maybe cheaper to just buy the parts and replace them. already have a good lead on the piece that goes under the grille and maybe a grille. the bumper is a different story...

Thinking about going with something like this (for now). They're cheap and it'll look badass w RWL tires.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/brw-942581245/overview/

I know for the back I need 4.5"-5" backspacing with a 15x8 rim. What about the front 15x7? backspacing?

Not sure about tire size...in the back I'd like to go wide but not too tall - just enough to fill the wheel well.  No idea about the front - I'd like to go w shorter tire to get a subtle raked look.

I don't know the back spacing on my wheels that are currently on my Satellite but they are 15x7's in the front & 15x8's in the back. The front tire size is P235-70R15 & the back is P255-60R15 & there are no clearance issues at all & still room in the back to go with a P275.

make a gtx clone

maybe at some point. what is the "etiquette" for doing that?

Etiquette? If you like it just do it & don't worry about what anyone thinks. It's not like you're swapping VIN tags.

Just remember that all the moldings on the sides & trunk lid are different & you'll be filling in holes just to redrill them in another location.

I thought I had a better pic of mine showing the wheel size but this is all I have at the moment. These wheels are American Racing "Smoothies" (Chrome Reverse as some call them) They looked good when I got them but that was back in 1985 or 1986 & they look like crap now. The plan is to sand blast them & paint them a dark argent & put new chrome caps on & maybe trim rings.

Bassett is the one you want. http://www.bassettwheel.com/dot.html

:yesnod:

Ive been looking at those for years (see the photoshop of the 74 in my sig). Or Aero wheels, like these:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/aeo-50-184540/overview/
I know, not DOT...but who's checking?  ;D

Would I be able to run 15x8's in the back with 3.75 or 4.00 backspacing without the tire sticking out too much? What size tire?

Do you like these rims?  http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/ptd/3635926195.html

Does the pope shit in the woods? I have the 22" version of those on the '08 Charger. Too much $ for me right now tho. I'm not gonna make the same mistake I made with the '74 and get wheels, paint, and all that stuff before handling all the mechanical stuff. Because what good is a pretty car if I can't drive it? That's why I'm gonna go with cheapie wheels for now, and even only do the rears.

finish panels I am storing for him here  . That will make the rear of that thing POP

cool its a column auto , with a factory tach

dude, that is awesome. I'm gonna take some pics of the fender tag over the weekend and start decoding it.

As I mentioned earlier, none of the gauges work (except for the tach, of all things), so i guess it is possible that the instrument cluster may have been messed with/replaced at some point. I do have almost 30 years worth of service/repair records - looks like the owner from ~80-99 didn't even do his own oil changes, so if the cluster was done during that time, Im sure theres a receipt for it somewhere.

well if the speedo isnt working that has to be the cable or the gear in the tranny

the rest i would start by pulling the plugs off the 3 wiring plug at the firewall block under the hood and clean all the contacts and put some dielectric grease on them after you clean them up .

90% of your electrical problems will start there its a common problem and water runs right down on this area right off the cowl .

I don't recall ever having seen a tach in anything other than a Road Runner or a GTX, but I also don't know if the tach was available as an option on a 318 car or by itself. My guess is that it was added. Most of the cars have either the square clock or the delete panel. The Coronet also has the same gauge cluster & both my Satellite & my Coronet have delete plates.

I found a gauge cluster years ago with a 150 speedo & the square tach for $40. One day I may put the tach in my Satellite.
