Electric choke control

Hey guys

I have been adapting my 6 pack choke, since my new Eddie heads dont have the heat crossover I figured it would not heat the bi-metal quick enough or at all and I didn't want to put in a manual choke. So what I have done thus far is use parts from the original 400 block choke system ( excuse me for not knowing the proper part names) anyways I took the heater element out of the 400 choke and carefully massaged it into the 6 pack assembly. It turned out very nice and it also worked. Then it struck me that the electric heater probably shouldn't be energized all the time and there likely is a control for it? I have searched for a bit now and cant find any place or part numbers so I was wondering if you guys know where I could get one?

Actually if I remember correctly they get their juice from the alternator anytime the engine is running.

ya for sure, I have it connected to the blue wire there actually was a connector there for it but does it stay powered all the time?

RUN wire eherever you have the source available.

On 70 and lates cars with elect reg and dual field you'll find a blue wire running to alt brush into the tape which is a straight from key source. Youy can splice from there. 73 and lates cars already have the splice available on harness, which in fact use a Choke control unit to change the voltage according with engine bay temp, then the choke mounted coil gets the power

On pre 70 cars with mech reg and single field alts, the RUN source must be taken from ballast or reg blue wire. NOT the ballast side with brown wire, just blue. Post 70 can take it from there too.
