Strange problem with DMT slash shield

Last summer I bought some front fender/engine comp splash shields from Detroit Muscle Technologies and last week I finally got around to putting them on. The drivers side didn't fit right so I emailed Jim and asked about it. He said I might have gotten the wrong one so he sent a second shield. It turned out to be exactly the same so I just redrilled the mounting holes and added one hole that was missing to get it to fit.

Jim offered to refund my money and I told him no because I'm not that worried about it but I am curious about what's going on. Have any of you guys ever had fitment problems with these? No one at any of the body shops I've been to have ever noticed anything out of whack, and I haven't either, as in the iinner fender being replaced or redrilled. Jim said he's sold about 300 sets without any issues so mine's apparently a quirky one. It fits now after modifying it so I don't really care too much other than I'd like to know what the deal is. FYI, I've got no beef at all with DMT over this. I think their products and service are both top notch.

Jim wants to refund my money but I told him not to worry about it. It's not DMT's fault that my car is goofy and I got it modified to the point it will work so it's not a big deal to me. I just think it's odd that mine is one off.

Is it a new early 68 deal? Maybe a  67 part would work?

:scratchchin: Never thought of that. I'll have to ask Jim if/how they're different.

The picture he has up above shows the drivers side, with the shield on the outside of the apron. The passenger side should go on the inside of the apron, but I dont think hes having any trouble with that one. right?

Well, no, but I put it on the outside. Guess I'd better check the fit from the inside, eh? The holes all lined up so it should be fine.

Moved the passenger side apron to the inside of the inner fender and it fits fine. :2thumbs:
