The 69 charger RT with upside down vin .Was a old friend of Mine Gary Bender with similar car he sold way back to somebody in Corning NY I recall.A 69 RT Red thought car had more options.And definately had a upside down vin

From what he posted it appears to be. I was just going by the title in the link that said 69.

the way i read the ad  , not sure it is a original hemi daytona block  :scratchchin:  maybe just the block that was in a daytona at some point ,  :scratchchin: although could be reading it wrong !as i sometimes do  :slap:

Block was cast Nov. 18 , 1968 so  likely  is was installed in 69 model year .

We know he had a satellite/belvedere ragtop staring point .And in the magazine story I have here some where he had used wrecked hemi superbird for parts .Pete Veight got his parts and F6 playboy daytona from him.So he might know .I talked to Gary when he was in FL selling the ragtop for $25K.It ended up going to Sweden

Thats where it went Sweden I got one of Dougs newsletter where owner over there was checking to see if it was a legit factory built car or not

Yes, it was in a magazine over there.     It had a Hemi, but may not have been the one now being discussed.

so was this normal that a HEMI block could be made a year or so in advance of going into a car ?

    With such low production numbers was this the norm  ?

The way I have always heard was they only did 4-5 Hemi block casting pours over a 5 or 6 year period. So a 2 year old casting date isn't out of the question

It did NOT have the original Hemi in it. It was a another used Hemi.
I'm the one who built the original Hemi Superbird convertible and was one of the owners of the Playboy Daytona. I've had 4 Superbird's, 2 Daytona's , 69 Charger 500 and a 71 HEMI 'Cuda. I currently own a 2014 Challenger R/T Shaker.
