Finally got the build sheet and title in the mail yesterday, almost as cool a feeling as getting the car here. I was quicly glancing at the build sheet, then ended up getting busy doing something else... so tonight i wanted to really look at the paperwork, pretty low optioned car that was owned by a lady in florida. so far so good i thaught any way, turned the title over to read the back, then whammo! One of the previous owners was Leudtke auto group from lake villa illinois. so my first thaught, now what have i gone and done, my second thaught, dang, did i just buy a car that even these guys didnt want. And reading about the horror stories from other members on here, kinda gave me that uneasy feeling.  mental note to self, when the seller says theres a title, get a pic of the back of it or look at it if possible cause ya just never know

I'd smudge out the car immediately!

Then it'll be all nice and fresh.   :icon_smile_big:

Yikes! Those guys were bad news. Those guys were about 45 mins from me and I was down there many times. They had some nice r/t's that they wrecked with there shotty body work and paint. Is your car a general lee?

tan top

oh no !!  have you checked all the body numbers against the fender tag & vin plate  broadcast sheet :popcrn:

And ask for pictures if possible of ALL the cars history...Who owned it, why they sold it, and what work was or wasn't performed.

odly enough, some of the trim that came with the car was orange or over sprayed orange.Didnt really pay that any special attention of course i looked at all that before i got the title and stuff. No fender tag, but the vin matches the papers, havent checked the body numbers yet, been too cold.  i'll try to post a pic of my project, no guarantees on that one

Im working on a buddies 72 he got form a body shop. total butchers.....they "replaced" a floor pan by hammering a piece of sheet metal over the rust hole and tacked it in place and called that a professional repair..

Well, technically, if they were PAID for it, it was "professionally done".

Remember that "professional" repairs are limited to the Owners wallet size. I offer Maaco paint jobs as an example. You get what you pay for. How do we know that "professional" repair wasn't dictated by the previous owner's wallet? Maybe Owner knew he/she was gonna sell and didn't want to put a bunch into the repair? Poor repairs aren't ALWAYS the fault of the "pros" that do them. No one is gonna charge $1000.00 Labor/matrerials to do a job correctly and get the 'ole "I can't afford that" bullsh*t, and just do a grand worth of work for whatever the Customer will pay.....No, they offer $350.00 on a $1000.00 bill, they get $350.00 worth of floorboard repairs.
