Yesterday I joined a buddy going to a Gun and Knife show.  He was looking for a new knife for hunting as well as info on a old rifle his father gave him while I was wandering around....  in the far corner of this huge hall there was a guy making leather belts.  As I approached I noticed a large table full of pins for biker jackets.  first I found a nice BSA pin as my father in law has retored 2.... and then I found these!!!  :2thumbs: :coolgleamA:     so i bought 2!!!

Very cool ! When I returned from Vietnam in April, 1968 , I bought a new 1968 Triumph Bonneville when I was only 3 days back home. It was $1200.00 and I sure wish I had it back! I, also looked at and almost bought a BSA 441 Victor. Great bikes with a single-cylinder 441cc motor and badazz then. Always loved the single-cylinder BSA's.

Nice finds !  :2thumbs:

Very Cool on having the Bonneville!   I need to get more info on my In-Laws bikes, but he is a Triumph man through and through.   he has one rebuilt mid 60's, another still in pieces, and a 2005 cruiser for day and weekend cruising!

Loved my old Triumph Daytona (500 cc little brother of the Bonneville)  Had it from about 68 till 75.  Best handling bike ever!  I took many mountain cruises thru Idaho, Wyoming and Montana with my soon-to-be-wife.

The 1960's Triumphs (500-650cc) were fantastic bikes but they sure would make your hands and feet go numb from vibration after about an hour on the highway! That old Triumph (1968 Bonneville) was my only transportation for almost a year and went thru one winter in KCMO ! Kickstarting that old bike when it was about 10* outside wasn't really hard if you knew the drill and mine almost always started on the first kick. Riding it from my apartment on Troost and 103rd in KC out to NAS Olathe (now new century airpark) was about a 30 mile ride and I was so cold by the time I got there, I wasn't sure I could even put my leg down to catch myself and the bike at the gate! I was so cold I could hardly peel off the 3 or 4 layers of cloths I had on for the ride.

I still loved that old Triumph but swore that I would never own a bike for anything other than an extra form of transportation again and never did. Down the line I bought and owned Kawasaki's, Harley davidsons and the last bike I owned was a 1979 R100s BMW but sold it to my brother around 1990 as I just didn't find the time to ride anymore and the worst thing you can do to a bike is let it sit.

Whenever I get the urge to buy another motorcycle and, yes, I still get the urge, I take 2 aspirin, lay down and get over it! I am on heavy blood-thinners since my stroke in 2010 and will be for the rest of my life so, a wreck on one and I would probably bleed-out, even with just minor wounds.

The old Triumph Daytona was a mighty fine ride and I am sure it brought you many miles of "Smiles" !
