Hi I am in the Unitied kingdom so info etc limited, so if any of you guys can help............

I have a 1970 charger XH29N0G but no broadcast sheet or fender tag
When I got it it had a mild 440 in it with 4 speed and painted EB7 blue
So I worked out originally 383 4bbl 4 speed , I've started stripping the black paint off the engine bay to find at some point it was painted red on top of EB7 blue but I've removed the brake booster and the original factory paint is underneath which is EB7 and I've lifted carpets and the 4 speed hump is factory. I looked on 70 charger registry and its listed that out of 46500 1970 chargers built only 201 were 383 4bbl 4 speed and only 3.6% of chargers built were EB7 which in theory would mean that it's possible that only 7 383 4bbl 4 speed EB7 chargers were made.

So questions.......

Does that seem right?
What is it worth? Bad,good, excellent conditions
Does anyone have my fender tag or broadcast sheet?
Or does anyone know how I can trace or replace them?
Should I return to factory? As I'm in the process of fitting 500ci stoker motor with tci race prep auto box and a strange s60 axle.
Is this a rare charger?

Thanks to anyone that can help, reply

Welcome!

Search your topics on the forum. Lots has been posted over the years. It's an on-going debate: build it your way - or - restore to near original.

Usual two camps develop - if it is rare and it's an investment, stay factory. If it's meant for fun, build it as you like and as best as you can afford.

Finding the car's history and "birth papers" can be a great deal of work. This forum is a good start, by just asking for the community help. Odds are very strong you will never find the tag or BS, nor replace them. That issue just comes with owning a Mopar.

Welcome to the group   As far as returning it to stock or not, it depends on what you want and what you have.  If you have all the parts and pieces to return it to stock, then go for it, if that is what you want.  If you want a asphalt ripping street terror, it's perfectly fine.  Have fun with it.

Trying to find your broadcast sheet and fender tag will take some work.  You'll have to track down previous owners.  It might be a long shot because either they stored them in a safe place, or tossed them out with yesterdays' garbage.  If this is a car you pulled out of a junkyard, your odds are slim to none as anybody could have pulled them.

Reading about the engine you have, sounds like it's gonna be a fun car.  I'm interested in hearing more of your plans and of course, seeing pix.  Check the help section if you need heip posting pix.

I have a similar car (but 3 speed) that my father bought new when I was four years old and it was assembled and delivered when I was five.  I thought about returning it to original, and then thought why not make it the way I like it.  The sentimental value is more to me than anything else.  I went through the options on it, and can narrow it down to a small number that would have had my exact combination, but I doubt that it would command a super high price for a collector (as much as a 440 or 426 RT) as all original.  I also don't have a desire to sell it except maybe to one of my kids when I get older.   Probably for the same $1000 that I paid my dad. :smilielol:

I am putting in a 5 speed and a mild stroker, but that is what I want.

Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....
