Hand held roadside assistance

In the process of plowing through the evening workload I had an epiphany. Ok, many of you probably already do this but it just occurred to me tonight and I though I might share since it wasn't immediately obvious to me.

I picked up an Android smartphone about 3.5 months ago now and am just starting to figure out how to actually do something useful with it besides surf porn (that would be the car type) and post to DC.com. And this evening I realized that I could put both my 69 Factory Service Manual and 69 Parts Manual on the phone so that I would always have it with me in the Charger. Last year I was printing out sections that I "hoped" I wouldn't need and threw them in the trunk with the roadside kit. Well now I have it all at my finger tips. I can even search it. I guess the only problem will be if the battery dies. When I bought the manuals I kept waffling back and forth between print and digital copies but I am happy I have the digitals now.

Anyhow, I am pretty impressed with myself ATM and hope I get more use out of it in swap meets than on the road.

That's a great idea.

As a "work around" for the dead phone, load it on your home PC and set it up for "Logmein" (or a similar application).  Then if your phone is dead, you can access it from the next available device.  Note: This solution may not apply to those living in small northeastern states with an Amish internet connection.    

I use Logmein on my Ipad everday for business.  It works real well.

Yea, that's a deal breaker on my street. 

On the battery note... If I was smart enough to bring my car charger then I pretty much have unlimited battery power for the phone. Even if I killed the battery cranking the phone needs such a small amount of current the dead battery would be more than enough.
