1969 dart GT updated with pictures

Hey I know, I know, I going to have to get pictures of it but I'm looking at a friends 1969 dart GT that he wants to sell, I have no idea really about these cars, he said it was a slant six car but now has a 440 in it with 11 inch brake drums in back with disc brakes in front. I shouldn't have even ask tell I get picture, but the last time I seen it is looked good, kinda hot roded up but a nice looking car, just off hand looking at about how much its real worth, gonna look at it again this weekend.  did the GT even have a slant six in it in 69? curd now that i think of it I might have some info of it at home in a book, just lookin for a ride arround fun car tell my charger ever get done

Spend the money on the Charger and get it done.

As for the price on the Dart.
I am always very carefull when doing a transaction with a friend, especially if they think its worth one price and you think its worth another.
Second, friends like to change their mind or down the road they think they sold it for too low of a price and want more later or want the car back for the same price they sold it to you for.

You really need to consider what the friendship is worth first.

Then talk about a price that is acceptable for both, do research together, talk about the transaction for several weeks or a month making sure you are both on the same page. talk about down the road and what if's. Make sure there are no I though you would.....

I have bought cars from friends and stored then because they needed the money and later wanted to buy them back when they got back on their feet or regretted selling it. One I sold back because they were my friend and knew it would end the friendship if I didn't sell it back to them.

If you don't care about the friendship then screw them for every penny you can!

hes not that good of a friend and I'm not asking on were to spend my money just about 1969 dart GTS and what there worth modified with 440 and such but thanks for your away...........

Its worth what you are willing to pay and the seller is willing to except.

If you want to know what people are paying for cars like this today there is always e-bay, look in your local paper or talk to a consignment auto seller.

Or you could have the car apraised.

If you looking for a ball park guess then we need pictures and the location of the car.

Is it a GT or a GTS? The GTS never came with a /6.

In 1969, the GTS came with a 340, 383 or M-coded 440.  The GTS was only offered for 2.5 years. It was a mid-67 offering.

Yes.  The GT package was basically a trim level on the 2 door Darts.  They were the stripped versions, I believe.

  Started looking at pics on altavista image search to see a GTS.   This one is nice.  That car sounds like it would be fun to drive with a 440 in it.

Hi Cary,

I owned a 67 dart GT with a /6 in it. It was a great car. The GT was an upgraded interior and exterior package. Most had V8s but some had /6s. I would check out his conversion. Did he do it right? Does the car have upgraded tranny and rearend. The brakes sound good. Becuase the GTS package was available in 69 there are some good aftermarket parts to enable this engine swap to be done right and safely. Cool car, but probably not super high dollars.

my recollection on A-bodies with 440s is they were really front heavy and had no room underhood for power brake boosters...
I'd drive the car, and pay special attention to is front end sway and plow and the general handeling and braking dynamics...
   All the stuff i read about BB a-bods was that they were monsters in the 1/4 mile but couldn't handle worth a damn...
     I think i'd also pay attention to sevicing the engine like accessability to the plugs and starter.

lettuce know what you decide, and I for one would sure like to see some pics!

Assuming that there was no cutting involved, they also has to use restrictive exhaust manifolds to get them to fit. That knocked down the HP rating.

No power steering either.

Well dammit, I have to addmitt and sorry ChgrSteve67 for snappin at you, but I'm really not interested in buying it but it would be nice if I had the money but my 68 is were all my extra money is going...........My friend just tryingg to figure out what its worth and tryin to help him sell it for he is getting into fabricating bikes, motor bikes by hand so this car is just takin up extra space in his garage.....sounds like he did this car right but its not show quality and I gonna get some pictures of the bike he is doing to........and get this he takes an old bikes like a street bike and totally takes its apart and cuts it up and make a hole new bike like a radical chopper or something, I just cant believe the picture of the bike before and then it looks like something from that make it or bust bike show thing...........i have just seen one bike he did up close that was pretty ruff but cool and the rest were on his camera phone........anywho back to the dart, I also need to get charged up on my project and thought going over and looking at it and just car talking will help me get back in the game for i am little depressed about an old back injury that reared up it ugly head this winter which still might make me have to have another surgery    I'm going over tomarrow to take pictures if everthing goes to plan

P.S. Mark Mark, I had a 74 scamp that I had for about 7 years so I'm not total immune to the Dart, scamp, swinger and what ever else the renamed these cars bug

well my ears hurt really bad now and it felt like i just went 0 to 60 in about two seconds just about wet my paints too, this car is really fast, he sayes the motor came out of a 12 second valiant that got crushed by a fallin tree......
Its a 440 850 holly, street dominator manifold with headers, three inch exhaust, 727 reverse valve body, 83/4 axle with sure grip 391 gear ratio..........thats about right as I can get it for I'm not to up with this hipo lingo LOL.......anywho i took a close look at the car and it looks like it was done right, k-frame is correct for the engine and its really fast.....when he shifted through the three auto gear manually the wheel let out a little curp and broke rubber  and rear end slipped to the side like you really had to be careful or you would fly off the road.....its a nice looker and could use some more clean up but definitely not a show car......but man if you want to go fast this is the car......but i don't like my ears hurting oooowwwweeee pictures

  That car is BAD AZZ.  That has got to be the coolest looking '69 Dart I have seen.  I was going to say while looking at the pics that I really like the paint job, and the wheels and stance, and front seats.  Then I read at the end you don't like the wheels and front seats, lol,

he tell ya what those seats are from? im sure they would be eazyer to find than origional buckets. my duster has buckets that could be re covered, but its donating them to my charger i think.

The rims are fine and fitting to the cars use(drag car) but those seats need to be put back in the 88 TA they came out of.

Its a clean car but is nothing more than a hot rod with no real value other than the fun factor, so to me it would only be worth 7 - 9K.

The paint job isn't that bad I'm just picky and in has a few minor pings in it, its viper blue with a purple bb stripe and i think he said a type of purple peal in the clear coat, it also has some minor rust bubbles on one side above he rear wheel well, not sure which side and the hood on the passager side is a little high, the engine compartment on passenger side has some rust damage were the hinge hides down in the front thender when closed.
the wheel stance is good, but i just don't like um that big and the front is skinny or the type of style they are, its set up for drag racing I guess, tires show allot of wear and there old and cracked.
He has another set of seats for it not sure if there the origanal, and although I don't like they way they look, they are comfrotable and seat belts are just like mine in my 68 charger, there blue with shoulder belts.
YES THE THING IS LOUD MY EARS STILL HURT and if this helps we were listing to white zombie why'll screaming down the road cool song, very pumpin, wish I new the name of it cause i liked it.

i think thats close for what its worth for some one who wants a drag type car if it truly is a 12 sec qrt mile car I guess it also I forget that the engine is strapped down with some type of rode from the block to the lower frame, you can kinda See it from the picture of it just above the steering gear box and the side markers have been removed in front and back.

Oh the memories, back in 81 I took a 440 magnum out of a 68 RT and put it into a 69 Dart GT, for a friend of mine.
It was light blue, mild build 440 with a mopar 484 284 cam. It had 323 gears and fenderwell headers, it ran 12:80's
all day long with that mild motor, they are light cars    Hey Cary this car I was working on was in the Eastgate area the
last I saw of it, small world.

nope not for me but thats what i would do if I did, put stock exhaust manifolds, repaint the ir cleaner with a wrinkle finish, put her back to what its would look like stock, I know i sick

i can't remember were he got this car again, some were down south, maple valley area maybe, the car if you look close on the picture of the underneath in front you can see the faint color of that light blue turquoise color on the lower rad support you like and from the turquoise head liner and seat belts i think it was maybe a all blue car at one time or blue and black interior, it has a fender tag but the picture I took of it didn't turn out very good and I was to lazy to take a pin and paper to write stuff down, it was suppose to have a slant six in it when he bought it and he put allot of the parts from a, krap i can't remember right now, some 67 or somthing valiant 440 drag race car that a tree fell on from front to back
