I have what looks like a power lock carrier.  How do i tell what series it is? I want to run 354 gears. thanks

John_Kunkel

The ring gear flange is offset from center (when measured from the center of the spider gear shaft) about 2 1/8" for the 4.56-up carrier and about 2 5/16" for 3.54/4.10 carrier.

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

hi. thanks for the info. Unfortunitly i have no idea how to measure it that way. Is there another way? it doesnt have bearings on it. So if i was to stand it up on one of the ends that the bearing presses onto. Measurring from the surface its on to the surface the ring sits on. what would the measurement be for on of those carriers? Or does any of the number stamped on it mean anything?> thanks

OK, on the ring gear side of the carrier lay a straight edge on the shoulder that the inside of the bearing sits against and measure over to the gear side of the flange....if it measures about 1 1/4" it's for the 3.54/4.10 ratio, if it measures about 1 7/16" it's for the 4.56-up ratio.

hi there. ok. I did what you said. and i got a measurement of about 1.30... Or just over 1 1/4.  Like 1 5/16.. So its much closer to the 1 1/4  then 1 7/16.. So im thinking its for the 3:54 set up. with is wonderful. what do you think? thanks
