Anyone in the Lebanon, TN area that knows this car?  I've been looking for a black '68 without a console (so that I could eventually get a buddy seat to fit 6).
There is on on ebay for a starting bid of $22k.  Some funky red accents.  Anything major jump out?

Back in my day, that would be considered a $700.00 daily beater, but that was then & this is now. The BIN 28K is an awfully high price for that thing, especially if you plan on restoring it.

Its a tad high to me being this high should start a numbers matching somewhere tranny or engine dont care at least one.  Other than that if it was 20k I would be flying out tonight to get it tomorrow right now!!!!  Still well worth it even with the price I do have a set amount I think its worth, but not the 28k for sure.  I still need left over to upgrade stuff on it if we can agree on a price!

Back in the day, your perfect '68 RT would have been considered a $5K just 'car'.

Thanks cdr, but I'm not sure it's the car for me -- and if someone wants it more than me, no hard feelings  :2thumbs:

who bought it under him, pretty rude!!!  ::)

IM checking the auction and it is still up?

If your referring to me about 'liking' the car theres a big difference between me handing cash over to seller and 'liking' it.  Gave my opinions on it and let it be.

I have posted many auctions/craigslist ads and many folks folks have bought the cars I posted and never felt like they bought it under me at all.

I post things for other members and my own interest also, its the ones that I dont post are the ones Im going to try to buy and PM individual members on the boards to go check them out for me and I have done the same for cars here in AZ for 3 members already.

So yeah if your referring to me CDR your post is just rude (if your referring to members here), but hey its online we can be rude as we want right  :shruggy:

I saw this car on craigslist the other day for 25k (if my memory serves me right).  I would pay 18-20k for it.

That's a real early car with a wood grain wheel and rear defroster. I like the look (steel wheels, no console, etc.). I could just about deal with the red accents but that tail panel would be painted ASAP if I got it. Wow that's horrible. I'd lose that stripe too. I wonder if all that is paint or if any are decals?

Looks like it's had some body work in the past and it doesn't look that great to me. Take a look at the rear wheel houses. Looks like they've been hacked and extended for bigger tires. That's also apparently why the trunk mat doesn't fit right. The quarters have overlapped patches and the seams are filled in on the rear valance. The chrome on the bumpers is bad which means the filler cap, tail lights, vent windows, side mirror, and door handles are probably shot too. The trunk floor under the mat looks like the skin from some of the bad guys in Pirates of the Caribbean. The front valance looks like it's only about half way on.

So, yes, it's a 68 Charger R/T with a 4-speed which makes it way cool in my book. However, it's also going to require a lot of work to make it really nice. It would be best for someone who just plans on just jumping in and driving. I really can't see this car bringing anywhere near $30k. I'd be surprised if it actually sells for much more than $20k. Maybe if one could prove it has the numbers matching engine and trans.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Apparently, calling it a beater is pretty much spot on.  :yesnod:

What a way to ugly out the rear with red paint  :o

Just out of interest, did the door trim medallions only have a red white and blue border for the early build 68's? Anyone?

Well, I think I'll keep looking for a car that's a lot more "done."  Seller did send me a link to a TON more pictures - slow connection beware.

Oh, and he also told me there is no question of matching numbers.  It's not.  Engine & transmission  are out of a '70.

In the end seems out of its price range  :shruggy:

Like troy said above....

1974dodgecharger

talked to some dude over the phone about the car.  Its gonna need some work, externally it looks great, but look deeper and start to ask questions about some inside stuff the guy kinda ignored me and said its a 'dodge charger R/T'. I think they did a repaint on the exterior to make it look good, but didnt mind anything any else, typical I guess.

Like someone said though (think troy) its a 18k to 20k max car they are hitting it high to get people excited over it.  Someone retracted their bid already  :popcrn:
