Are you using any primer/sealant or under coating under the drivers side rocker?

Yes, I coated the inner rocker with por15.
I need to take mine off and do the same with my driver side.

Thanks for the pictures, I know what I'm in for now.

Today I removed the passenger side hinge pillar because I was concerned with some rust up near the top by the cowl and the A pillar area. I was right, it was bad and I'll probably get a new one. There was a mouse house in there. I might do the drivers side as well. I fabbed the lower kickpanel that I cut out last week since it was real easy to get to.
I used to own a mopar because it was different, but now I know better.

I finally welded the passenger rocker panel on today. In addition I thought I would tackle some inner structural pieces including the package shelf, so I cut off a big piece of the quarter panel to get access.

Here are some more pics of the rusted areas of the inner structure, package shelf.

Yes you are lucky to be almost done. The more I do, it seems like the more I need to do.
Thanks for the support guys. After looking at the situation today, I decided I am going to replace the inner wheelhouse as well, which means I did alot of work for nothing, lol.

So, today I tackled the mess previously posted, namely the package shelf/ inner structural piece. I cut out the affected areas and fabricated the package shelf end. I had bought a replacement piece but it also had rust holes and was not suitable.  AMD apparently makes this piece for b bodies but not for chargers, so I tried my best to make a piece for it. Next I sandblasted all accessable areas where I need to re-weld these pieces.

If someone has a complete piece for the package shelf end, I would be interested in buying it.
I used to own a mopar because it was different, but now I know better.

I had to section the inner piece from my original and patch two other spots to make the replacement good enough, just need to grind and trim, then I can weld it back together.
I used to own a mopar because it was different, but now I know better.

Well, after more than a week of fitting and piecing parts I finally have that section all done. I ended up taking the package tray support panel out completely to fix it properly. Also, I made a new corner piece at bottom of window.

Here are some more pics of the completed section. I also removed the quarters because I could.  ;D

Job well done, I need to learn how to weld, keep posting.

Thanks

Great job Ger,
I am REALLY watching this as I have very similar metal damage in the rear window area.
How is the top edge of the window opening? (along the roof) Mine must have 8-12 holes.

Well actually, I have a new roof skin I am going to put on, so I will assess the top window area then.

I ended up repairing the passenger side package tray support as well, even though it wasn't as bad, it still had rust holes. The second time around always goes easier.

Some more pics. I just need to finish piecing and grinding the roof support and weld that in, it is just sitting there now.

I picked up these hinge pillar supports and my dog, Cuda gave it the sniff test and seems to approve. I haven't tried to fit them yet but they look good, even have the inner reinforcement plates.

Finished the package tray support/other inner structure pieces.  Next on the agenda was the cowl and so off it came to reveal some rust and I am sure glad I can fix this properly.

BTW:

Those support brackets inside the rocker boxes, that the AMD outer rockers didn't have .  .  . I don't think that stuff was standard equipment for all B-bodies.  I think your car might have gotten it by being a factory 4spd car.  (Did the car have the rest of the "torque box" plating they put on a lot of Hemi and/or 4spd 440 cars?)

I've seen those inner rocker brackets on at least one Hemi car that I can remember.  But I don't think that stuff was present inside the rockers of a 318 Charger that I saw cut up.

That's interesting, you would think dodge would have put those inside brackets in all cars. No my car didnt come with the torque boxes, but I plan on putting some on.
