and they do it in the nude

Yeah,  that's that nude beach that's such a hit with the foreigners. The locals a finding a lot of unattatched backpacks littering the place up. They've  put up signs asking the natives to put their leftovers in the bins provided.

no worries   both ! i love em  boiled in salt water bit of lemon or vinegar and salt mmm   :drool5:  but they use them for bait for Murry cod as well    we also have marron that get small lobster size

JB400

We usually boil them as well.  I personally don't do it.  Down in gulf coast states, they make gumbo with them.  I haven't had that yet either.  They're more catfish bait in my mind.

polywideblock

tails are just like little lobsters :drool5:  love them.  when you can get them

I figured that much.  I had more fun catching them when I was younger.  I had a creek that went through the yard.  Spent many of days in there until the city went and concreted it :brickwall:

polywideblock

concrete and craw- dad's dont mix very well  :eek2: they like a nice slow creek or a dam

  and 71 GA4  383 magnum  SE

Unfortunately, they're all but nonexistent in the city nowadays.  Everyonce in a while, I see one that's made camp in a ditch that stays wet most of the time or in a marshy yard.  Not really all that many wild life in the city anymore.  Groundhogs, rabbits, birds, and squirrels mostly.  The city parks with ponds are about the only places anymore to get crawdads, besides the grocery stores and the baitshops.  Out in the country, you'd have better luck getting them in the places you describe.

Lucky the bush is only 1 hours drive away ,well maybe 2 for the proper rough stuff but you  can get to sub tropical rain forest fairly easily

15 minutes and I'm out in the country at my favorite fishing hole :2thumbs:  Very little traffic, very little human impact.  Just nature.  Everyonce in a while, someone leaves trash there from fishing, but other than that, it's great.  I spent an hour and half out there last Sunday. Most relaxing thing I've done in quite a while.  I should have got my fishing liscense and went fishing for cold water cats, but I had to go back to work :eek2:

fishing definatly calms the nerves, trouble here is getting to fishing spots keep finding barriers and fences to keep us from hurting ourselves   :eek2:on a huge habour, largest coal export port in the world  20 -35 ships anchored off coast all the time

What all do you normally fish for?  I checked the NFA, seems like they want you to catch and release most of the time, even though they mention how good eating they are.  Here's a list of what we normally fish for. Bass and catfish the most fished.

Also, your crayfish are heck of a lot bigger than they are here.  Ours are about 2-3in. average. (about the size of your hand.   http://mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/field-guide/prairie-crayfish

I go to a beautiful surf beach called Kilcunda (near Phillip Island). Fish for most of the day. Catch nothing then drive into beautiful San Remo for fish & chips and to buy my fish. A couple of kilos of flathead tails to cook at home.
All in all, a great adventure for the dog (he and the Mrs. come too). :icon_smile_big:
