RMS vs. Magnumforce

Still trying to make decisions on my suspension setup for a 74 Charger. Wanted to go with a RMS kit, but after contacting them I was told it was not really possible to modify the 71/72 kit to work with a 73/74 chassis. I noticed that Magnumforce do have an adapter kit to make their kit work with a 73/74. I have not, however, read anything on this board to do with Magnumforce.

So... my question is why is there no talk of Magnumforce here? Do people use their front end kits, or their rear end kits for that matter? Are they comparably to RMS? Is there a reason I should stay away from their product?

We have installed Magnumforce and quite honestly they are not worth it in our opinion.  Fitment is less then perfect and the geometry of the steering is so far off its like a dump truck in parking lot.  Once you get moving its all good, as long as you have the right shock and spring package.  The last one we did had hardly any travel and was very stiff.

We outrun most all these cars with our stock mounting point front end.  Granted we use a lot of aftermarket parts and a good shock package, but none the less, a good performing car can be had for a fraction of the cost.  It's really hard to advise someone to spend $3500 just on parts to make this Mod.  The owner has to be really on board with it before we do it.

RMS is good stuff though.  They have a better set-up in my opinion.  Won't help you though....

What's wrong with mods to the RMS for the 73-74 car? Bet you could get it in there..?

There's other ones out there too... XV Motorsports {never used them yet} & even QA1 purchased the old Caps Automotive Products {had a couple}... the tubular K member is really hard to justify for price on any of them.... the tubular control arms & shocks are great improvements, especially if you add a quality O/S sway bars on front & rear also...  :Twocents:

The problem with the 73-74 cars is the isolated front suspension that does not readily interchagne with the earlier styles, hence no bolt in kits are made for any of them. Since they tend to be less popular than the earlier styles, no one is really going to go out on the limb with development for them.

To improve the stock stuff for a driver isn't really all that hard though. Unless your racing it where you need to have quick spring changes, it isn't worth the hassle of a coil over conversion. Bigger t-bars, bigger sway bar, improved bushings in either solid metal or urethane, a better alignment, and better shocks can totally transform the manners of the car and make it feel more modern without all the hassle of a conversion.

We're using a Heidt's IFS system in a '56. Could you go that route?
