As soon a Lucas sold the franchise to Disney Harrison Ford seemed thrilled. Harrison will once again have the DL-44 blaster at his side.  :2thumbs:

For Star Wars dorks like myself this news does not get any better.

"As J.J. Abrams and company endeavor to keep the lid tightly sealed on whatever they're cooking up for "Star Wars: Episode VII," reading between the lines of reports over the past few months, it is starting to emerge that the lineage to the first trilogy of films will be pretty direct. Particularly is this bit of info turns out to be true. Latino Review is reporting that Harrison Ford is set to return as Han Solo in "Star Wars: Episode VII." Whether it's just a cameo or something more something they don't know just yet, but according to their sources, it's a done deal. Naturally, until Disney says something none of this is real and this could also just be plain bogus, but it fits into the larger narrative of what has been dripping out over the last few months."

The only ways this could work are if a) they bring him back a some type of elder statesman / general / higher up who doles out orders and his wisdom to the younger main characters or b) something along the lines of how Leonard Nimoy was brought back in the Star Trek reboot.

It could work but...

I totally agree. I think a few of the original characters in the film, making cameos, passing the torch would be cool to see.

Lets just not have Carrie Fisher in the Jabba Slave Girl outfit again.  :P

The kid standing behind the slave boy cross dresser above will probably need some professional counseling before too long.

Anyway, I am looking forward to a Star Wars movie where Lucas has (hopefully) no say in the content. He's good at creating concepts but he should never have been allowed near a word processor.

I'm being cautiously optimistic.   While Disney can crank out some good Sci-Fi (seriously, why did John Carter flop?  That movie was GREAT) they do tend to make it a bit 'cartoonish'.  I'm just hoping it's more 'Gritty Sith' and less 'Adorable Ewok'.   Then again, Lucas himself made a movie with Jar-Jar Binks talking to the whiniest 5 year old ever to become a Sith Lord, so the bar is set pretty low.

The series progressivly went down hill till the entire production is filmed on one sound stage with a green screen...I'd rather watch Ishtar

And it appears all three main characters are returning.  Yes. . . Carrie Fisher is back too.

Her and Mark Hamill can be Weight Watcher buddies.  Anyone see him lately. . . he did not age well.

I realize he is 61 but Harrison is 70 and looks 55. He has just not taken very good care of himself.

Mark will be fine I think once he looses some weight and the make-up people get done with him.  Just read another article Billy Dee Williams is rumored along with the C3PO, R2-D2, Chewbacca and Boba Fett characters. Sounds like this could be really cool.

The ones who really look freaky are those who've spent gobs of money on plastic surgery instead of just aging gracefully.

Nah, plastic surgery is like CGI effects in a movie or bondo on a car.  People think it always looks bad because that's the only time they are even aware of it.   It looks good and goes right under our noses 90% of the time.

It has been a while since I have seen anything new. Casting is beginning.

Ryan Gosling auditions for Lukes son. . . Zac Efron possibly for Hans son.

Here's a report you can accept as fun or tantalizing or ridiculous: Latino Review, an establishment that has landed some scoops in its day, says Disney wants Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron in Star Wars: Episode VII. "As for what role Efron would be playing, we don't know. He could be a Solo kid," Latino Review writes. "But what I was told for sure is the Gosling went in for Skywalker's son. Yes, that's right Luke's kid." Disney is expected to make some official Episode VII announcements at its D23 expo starting Aug. 9. IMDB

I'm not sure I want to see another Star Wars flick.  In hindsight, I never should have watched the new trilogy and I probably should never watch the originals again and just stick with the memories.

I really have nothing good to say about episodes 1-III, especially Ep 1. That movie was HORRIBLE! I've said it before and I'll say it again, George Lucas is simultaniously his own best asset and his own worst enemy. He's always needed someone there to tell him no when he needed to be told no. I don't think he's had that since about 1978.

As for this new series, I was pretty confident until someone dropped the name Zac Efron. :rotz:

It's going into turn into a chick flick fast.

Why not Justin Bieber as Luke's son.
