Spring in Brake Pedal Mounting Bracket Goes Where?

When I took my charger apart, there was a spring hanging down from the inside of the bracket that contains the brake pedal.  I have an automatic, so no clutch pedal.  I can't figure out what it connects to and I can't find it in any of the pictures in the manual that show how the linkage attaches the brake pedal to the booster.  Anybody know what this is for?
