I have a 68 44 HP. The ID pad is located on the left side (Drivers side) of the engine.  I was looking to buy another 440. I wasn't able to look at the side of the block, but I did notice
that the ID Pad was located on the right side by the distributor.  There was too much paint on it to make out the numbers or letters. This was a quick glance.
The person selling it thinks it's a 440.  He sure it's a 1970 block.:shruggy:
Can you tell the displacement by the pad location??
Are all 440 ID Pads located on the left side ??  If so, what type of engines are with the ID Pads on the right side ??

Thanks  :2thumbs:

RB engines (361, 413, 426, 440)  are stamped on the left side tab, Opposite side of dist.
B engines (383, 400) are on the dist side. No external tab.
