enjoy your threads here.

you are restoring your 68 just as I am doing mine. same engine detailing and I will be putting the rear suspension in next weekend.

saw your engine detailing. I did my plug wire looms the same way, they look great done that way.

I did notice you were missing the plug heat shield. there is only a couple. Mega Parts has them.

Thanks HC - much appreciated.  I'll look into the heat shield.

yes there should be a liner between the tank & car.

I just checked out this link that cdr posted... Those pads are surprisingly cheap! Under $30 shipped.

Yeah, my guess is the guys already put that in, but I'll check.  Thanks for the info!

Hey Jeff,

I responded to your PM, but I'm not sure it went thru.  Let me know if you received it.

Hey mike great job that is looking fantastic, was looking at your photos and noticed you alternator mount, where does that make it sit , looks like it will be up high, is that a factory mount, ? ,
Nearly all the mounts
I've seen have just a single bolt and spacers if you look at other threads you will see what I mean

When I look back at the photos I posted w/ the engine in the car, it looks like the first photo has it different from the rest, doesn't it?  It looks as though the component was changed after the engine went in.  It should be a factory mount.

Thanks for noticing, I'll check.

Yes I do see that the bracket kits typically have that one single bolt.

Wow, what a thread! I don't know how I missed this.
Its looking incredible! Very pleased for you. Quite partial to black R/T's myself too.

One thing you might want to have a look out for is the stainless tulip shifter out of an automatic VC, quite often the plastic chrome finishing on the stock tulip will flake and deteriorate.

Keep it up, looking forward to some more pics.

Thanks for the heads up Bob.  Speaking of deteriorating chrome, one thing I'm trying to figure out is what to do w/ the chrome on the console.  It looks very good for an original piece being as old as it is, but quite frankly it doesn't look as good as the rest of the car.  I don't currently have a photo of it, unfortunately but the thinking is that it can't be restored to anything close to "like new" condition.  I'd hate to have that long console stick out like a sore thumb compared to most everything else.... I might need to either find a better piece or a re-popped piece if there is such a thing.

If they do make a great re-popped piece where can I find it?  Year One?  If it's not a dead ringer for an original piece, I'd probably try to find a top notch original one.

Didn't mean anything by that mike, I actually like it, looks solid and a proper mount, how many guys on here had trouble with the single bolt , stripped threads and so on , if it was on there leave it , factory oddity maybe
But love the thread and the car , great job ,  :2thumbs: :popcrn: will be watching this one and waiting for the start up videos

Hey no issue - I really appreciate the feedback, no offense taken at all.  You know, I think that black piece that sits behind the alternator is the A/C bracket.  When I look at alternator bracket sets for an A/C car, that piece is included.  I'm guessing the positioning of the alternator was slightly different to accommodate the A/C?  We do have the bolt and outer bracket pieces as well, but I guess the rear bracket is there to have the alternator sit a bit differently in an A/C car - does this make sense?

fy469rtse

Now that you mention it, mines an a/c car but 69 , pump Is over the top of engine to the drivers side, that's one of the compressor mounts , bolts on the other side to water pump housing, I don't have any photos to show you,
But hopefully other members on here can post some of the way it goes with the original pump bracket
Great car, bet you can't wait to drive it, getting closer :2thumbs:
