Heat cross over block off

I'm installing the felpro 1215 gasket set this week. I just took the new valley pan out of the box to paint it and noticed smaller rectangular holes on each side of the pan between the exhaust ports. Is this correct for heat bypass? I thought there would be no opening here on either side.  :shruggy:

Your picture confirms I have the wrong valley pan. Your pan doesn't have the holes mine does, the gaskets are the same. Off for the correct pan tomorrow.......it's always something.
